I recently took the back seat of my AC and don't miss it at all. It's a little noisier in the cab now and I want to insulate the back of the cab. There are cables for the power rear window so I can't just slap on a board. I've looked around and seen a lot of Tacoma cabs and other makes, but not the 1st Gen Tundra.

There was a guy who did the same, then cut a piece of plywood for the floor, another for the seat back, and covered both in material. Not quite carpet, but something durable. He gained a lot of space and found it easier to put things in the back seat, including his dog.

OK, here's what I've come up with so far. It's kind of shade-tree, but I'm not real good working with wood. There aren't a lot of nut holes that will work without fabricating brackets, so I used these 4 holes. I also had work around the power back window cables so I wouldn't damage them. It doesn't have to be real strong. I'm not going to haul boulders or heavy toolboxes back there. I'm not sure if I want to permanently mount a floor for it. I like to keep a small ice chest and trash bin just behind the front seats. The top board is 21" x 55" and the floor if I ever use it is 24" x 55". Eventually I'll find some tan carpet and some insulation but it's good enough for now.

A 2x4 mounted to the two holes up top, and a 1x4 bolted to the bottom two holes.

Then I screwed the board to the boards.

Sorry...Photo Bucket used to work no problem, but now they're getting greedy and hitting me up for money to share my photos. All these websites keep changing everything around and I totally have to relearn them. I might play with Google Photos that used to be PicasaWeb and try to figure that out. For now, I created an album.

Those are WeatherTech floor mats. I bought the truck used and the previous owner put them in when it was new. It still had the protective plastic over the original carpet.

I wish this did have a rear seat back like the Tacoma's. I have a 24" x 55" board for the lower part I can put legs on, but I probably won't permanently mount it. Or I could have a board just to cover the raised portion. I like having the foot-well where I can put things I don't want rolling all over, or to put my small ice chest and trash bin. My small toolbox is in the foot-well. My next step is taking a small carpet sample and finding some heavy-duty fabric or automotive carpet that matches. It's too hot to work on it outside lately, so I'll probably wait until it cools off some. The dogs will never ride back there. They're old and can hardly get into the Scion anymore.
