I asked my dealer to install a TRD CAI on my 2016 Tundra and he informed me that I would be wasting my money and would cause the check engine light to come on.

So my question, is he correct and would you recommend to/not purchase the TRD CAI?

Thanks

Mpg goes down due to lead-foot syndrome after the install.

I take the k and n drop in filter for 50 bucks. It gives you a little extra noise and it is cleanable thus saving you money in the long run. Love it with my Corsa exhaust.

I've had one since my truck was almost new. Check engine light never came on. Sound level increased. No change in MPG.
Would I do it again? Yes. Looks and sounds good. Bigger inlet, but no noticeable increase in power. Dealer never hassles me about changing the air filter.

LOL. TRD=Toyota Racing Development

Now, somehow this chap you spoke to seems to be misinformed. He can have his opinion on what is a waste of money but to say it causes a check engine light is stretching it esp since it's a Toyota part.
