I turn the ignition, it fires then dies. Takes a few tries to get going but starts eventually. This only happens in the morning, then is ok for the day. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions. It's not a flex fuel. I scanned it and the codes came back P1603 engine stall history, 1604 start ability malfunction, 1605 rough idle. Yesterday I tried to charge the pump by turning the key to on and letting it sit for 40 seconds but it didn't work. This morning I tried the remote start (hadn't been using it before cause batteries were dead) and it started right away and didn't shut off at all. I opened up the access panel under the steering wheel tonight and had a look at the wires, and found a dogs breakfast of wiring for some accessories I had installed last year (radio, cell booster, lights). I am going to work on cleaning up the wires tomorrow. Wondering if my problem could have something to do with my ignition.

The fuel pump only runs for about 2 seconds when the key is turned on. You need to turn the key on for about 5 seconds and then off for about 5 seconds a couple of times.

I am disappointed to have paid a speciality automotive shop to have done this wiring. Should have removed the panel and checked things out sooner.
This seems about the norm for so called specialty shops.

I'm thinking that if you were having an issue with the immobilizer shutting things down then you should also have immobilizer codes stored in the vehicles computer.

Turns out it shutdown and set the horn off this morning with the remote start and your right it should show immobilizer codes if that was the problem. Tried cleaning the mass airflow sensor - seemed to make it worse. Wondering if I could have an air leak somewhere?
Tried turning key again 5 seconds at a time to charge pump - didn't work. Thought about doing a pressure test but I would have to order tools and I really have no idea how to t into this truck.

Any new info on testing the fuel pump pressure?
