I just sold my 2013 Crew max and went back to
a 05 Dbl cab and couldnt be happier.
The max was a powerfull beast no doubt
but the main things on the 05 i like better are the
more comfortable seats , longer bed ,more nimble
feel with easier parking , gas milage and styling.
The new ones are nice too but it feels good to have
a nice 05 dbl cab again.

Never driven a gen 2 tundra. Have no desire, they are great trucks Im sure. But its way more truck then I need. My 06 dc is hard enough to park in lots as it is.

The new crewmax is almost too much truck and not enough at the
same time mostly because of the short bed , i think that bugged me
the most. Toyota should have made the new access cab
like the 05 06 dbl cab with four real doors and longer bed.
Maybe in the future?

Not buying the better gas milage statement. My access cab only got 15 on the xway.

Everyting else, spot on. Even the factory stereo was better.

My 04 access cab best mileage was 16.9 mpg, averaged out per tank when I was keeping track. Never checked my 06 dc.

Most people seem to go the other way and love it, but hey, whatever makes you happy.

I could have a new truck, but was always attracted to the Gen1.

When I sat in that leather bucket, I knew pretty quickly that this was the most comfortable seat I've ever sat in.

For the comment about CM almost too big...

I was just back in Den for a visit and a buddy had gotten a Dodge Mega Cab Long Bed. That beach really needs 3 axles.

My milage for the 2013 Cr. max 5.7L was 15.6mpg in summer mostly around town with a little Hwy.

The 05 Dbl cab 4.7L was about 17 in summer. The bigger motor
and more weight was evident on the 2013 max but I have to say it did rip and was fun when you got into it. :)

You would have to pay me money to own a Gen 2. It's a behemoth joke of a truck you might as well drive a dodge. High waistline... can't reach in the bed from the ground... ugly... looks like a dodge. I'm on my second Gen 1 and I can guarantee that until i need a turbodeisel it's the only truck i'll every own. I prefer the cloth seats to the leather though (had both) and you can't beat the bench seat because of obvious reasons.
