Hey guys, not sure if this thread is very active. But I’m looking to purchase a 2004 Toyota Tundra with the 3.4 liter V6. It has 250,000 miles, everything seems great! It idles and drives amazing. It’s also a 5 speed manual. But before I buy, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is leaking?

That appears to be the oil pan drain bolt. It also appears to have some red/orange silicone around the area. What commonly happens is when someone changes the oil and uses an impact wrench to tighten the bolt they over tighten and or strip the threads. This can cause the oil leak you are seeing. Then once someone realizes it is leaking they apply a little high temp red/orange silicone to the threads of the bold to help stop the leak. Is it a reason to not buy a vehicle NO. It just needs a little special care with oil changes.
