I have taken my 2001 tundra V8 2WD (208 thousand miles) to several differential shops and everyone one of them has said they have never had a differential in that did not make some noise if it has a problem. I have a sudden thump, that feels like a jolt in the rear of the truck whenever I am driving down the road and coast then go back into power- I get a thump. I also get them occasionally when I go from forward to backing up and vice versa. Does anyone know what this might be? The u-joints seem OK. Also, I can turn the driveshaft about a 1/2 turn before the wheels turn. Also, I have had the transmission rebuilt in the last 1500 miles.
