I went the latest and greatest route before buying my Tundra. The latest and greatest is beta tested on the public and when the design/platform is flawed to begin with, just band aids are applied for the “fix”. The tried and tested Tundra is a breath of fresh air after coming from the latest and greatest. Go dip your toes in the waters of the latest and greatest, you’ll wish you never left.

Not much of the Pro fan, but with the shocks, rigid led only for the foglight, oh cool moonroof, oh and the hood scoop... lets mock the tundra sport scoop even though its not functional. Never was a fan of the scoop, looks really tacky, should stay on a double cab dodge ram with low pro tires and 80 pounds each metal wheels. I want to see the amount of people paying for this, I sure won't haha.

That is what made me get my first Tundra. Same load, same interstate, set the cruise in the Tundra at 70 in D and it never would even change the tone of the engine pulling those hills. That POS got the same mileage as my Tundra and it had a 3.55 rear end in it. My neighbors Ecoboost that he is so proud of is presently residing at the dealership for it's 3rd time due to intercooler problems that "they just can't figure out". When it is not in the shop, it get's 14 - 16 mpg. The best part is he still talks shit about that truck and how superior it is to Toyota while I'm driving mine back and forth to work everyday, and he's rolling in a Fiesta loaner car. Grass ain't always greener buddy. I'll take reliability over cool tech any day.

Better MPGs (but I'm not sure about turbo charging...) - so maybe an 8 speed tranny?
A little more creature comforts in the interior - rear air controls or something more than just the 12v outlet.

I keep changing my mind on what I really want the next redesign to have. Honestly, I like the simplicity of the current Tundra. I'm not sold on the TSS +P stuff. Not sure I really a computer to stop my car for me, put me back into the lane, or keep a reasonable following distance. Seems like I've been doing a good job of that for the last 20+ years... IDK, maybe it would be nice to have something protect me from the idiot that can't keep his face out of his phone while driving though.

Concerning Turbos - there just doesn't seem to be enough time yet to see if those are designed for the long term owner. I've had the last car for 10 years, and no plans to get rid of it... I don't like the idea of having to change out a 50k truck every 5 years.

The top complaint I see on this forum about the tundra is the poor MPGs, however, if the only way to improve the MPG's is to go Turbo like the the big 3, is it really worth it? I'm not sold.
Please no turbos! There are other ways to improve the fuel economy, at least to some extend. Here is what I would like to see: electric power steering (would also allow true LDA), electric cooling fans, 8-speed transmission (Toyota already has one on the shelf), combination of port and direct injection, maybe a redesigned intake manifold to move the torque curve lower. I bet those changes would net 3 MPGs.

Other changes for the next Tundra I would like to see are: true keyless entry and push button start, a dash layout similar to the new big Landcruiser, a true premium stereo, a real factory remote start. Obviously you can't expect all those things in an SR5 or Limited but they should be on a Platinum/1794 or available as options. I'll be more then happy to pay more to get all that stuff.

With that said, I am pretty happy with my 2018 Tundra and will Trade it on the next iteration Tundra in 21/22 and probably buy a Platinum or 1794.

BOO Hoo Toyota does not care about the 2% on these forums . If you have the money go buy your Ford . I don't want to start a fight . I'm old andold school do not want or need all this electronic stuff in my truck . If you research a 10 speed tranny It gets 1% of 1% increased gas millage . They say fords can not figure what gear it should be in . What is the purpose of push button start other than you do not have to insert key and turn ?? I just want a truck not a truckcar . hell I do not have a smart phone don't need one and my life has not ended . If you guys need all that stuff fine get it ,I just do not see why most need it . No fight please just my 2cents . I can not justify spending 60grand on a truck full of stuff I do not need or want .

I think I might be the only one that likes the hood scoop and grille. Still not enough for me to get rid of my ‘13 though.

You're not alone, I like it too. And give me all the bells and whistles while you're at it.

Hate to break it to ya, but you are the two percent of the truck buying population who doesn't want those things, Toyota or not. (Maybe that's what you were saying anyway?)

The 8-10 spd trans have been shown to improve city mileage by up to 20% on some of the other brand trucks when compared to the older 5 and 6 spd trans they came with. That's 2.5MPG or so in the city, pretty big jump no? Toyota is charging almost the same money as Ford for their half ton product, why not get some of the same level of feature content if you're dropping 40k on a cloth seat truck?

And no fight here, just having a conversation with ya
