Part of the problem was due to early abuse of the cooling system by an idiot previous owner. Google small block Chevy cooling problems...it's out there. Hint: Not the usual 350 ci displacement.
Wrong head gasket on the small block. Some had steam holes , some did not .

I will accept cash, money order OR a Toyota Racing Hat for compensation.

SPEAKING OF only overheating at highway speeds .

Guy i know put a the plastic fan on a Vega ( yes) backwards . Making it a pusher fan in effect.

Around town everything was great , 1min at highway speeds blammo it heated way up . Took a lil while to figure that one out .

Wrong waterpump.

The older small blocks were all the same standard rotation, but some LS and Corvette applications were CCW rotation and the impeller was different .

The same compensation package rules for the correct answer remain in effect .
