2018 TSS-P Precollision not working?

I have a 2018 with the TSS-P radar stuff on it.
I've driven less than 5000 miles on it, and had a few times where the pre-collision alarm went off for no reason. Today I see the pre-collision has turned itself off. Is this normal? I'm thinking I should take it into the dealer for service.

I just hate going in there... "uh, the alarm goes off and stuff." - which sounds dumb. Then they say, "Well, it's not going off now, so..."

Anybody with similar issues?
Thanks in advance!

Known issue. There've been recalls both for the antenna piece and software updates. I had 2 new sensors installed on my 2018 before it had 10k miles; it seems to be back up and running for about 6 months with no issues. Mine still needs the most recent software update, but it's not flaking out like it used to, plus the dealer acts like it takes 2 hours and I need an appointment outside of the express lube lanes. I'll get there eventually...

I think what Aaron said is correct, mine will also shut off if there is heavy water/rain or frost on the vehicle, once it is cleared it comes back on, I had the alert go off as well but I believe the dealer did a software update?

Whatever it was, it's gotten worse - I now get a "Malfunction. Visit your Dealer" message whenever I start the truck.

I've got an appointment in a few days. I'll let you all know what I find out.

I'm so glad my 2014 doesn't have that nanny sh!t on it.

Some of the semi tractors I drive at work (the newer freightliners) have that collision BS on it.
It only locks up when going under a bridge or an over head highway sign with the cruise on.
I never let a vehicle in front of me get close enough for it to activate.

The only way to prevent the lock up is to have the accelerator pedal on the floor.
And that is how I drive them, unfortunately governed at 68....

Learn it, know it, live it.

Sam,

I had the same issue on my 2018 DC SR5. A recall letter and a software update at the dealer resolved the issue.

Thanks to everyone!

I finally got into the dealer. They looked at it for 15 minutes, said "Yup, we need to get you a new sensor. That will take a week."

They called me when it came in, and I dropped of the truck again. 45 minutes later, they called me and said "Um... we ordered the wrong sensor. It will take a week to come in."

They called me a week later, and finally replaced the sensor. They said it was around $200 for the sensor.

I haven't had any issues since. Hopefully it stays that way.
