Smashed the front of my 2011 Rock Warrior

What do you all think it will estimate out to be? It has trashed the bumper, hood, fender, headlight, some wiring. The driver door is crumped up and has trouble opening, some of the frame and crash bar seems to be mangled, not sure on steering parts. The driver door not sure if it locks, but the truck wont beep when i remote lock it now etc. Awesome! I take it to get it estimated tomorrow at some janky place the insurance company is choosing, but im gonna choose toyota for the repairs.

Depends on if the crumple zone on the inside was crumpled and if the frame was tweaked.

How many miles? My guess is they will total it out. Insurance carriers often do if the quote for repairs approaches 75% of the value due to fear of additional hidden damage.

Take it to the dealer for the estimate, they're going to have to do one anyway. Also, the door moving is not a good sign...

FWIW - you do not have to use their direct repair facility.

Pick your own and go there. Wouldnt hurt to get several estimates either

Ok, the insurance estimate stopped at a little over 7k...he didnt dig deep but said it will probably be more. Its now with Toyota dealer for them to look and whatnot. It def has frame damage and i was told that if it cant be fixed, a new frame will be another 5k and 27 hours labor etc.

It will at least probably take 17k to call a total loss....i doubt i will hit that mark.

Weird - I wonder why they stopped, since it wasn't totaled? You would think they would have dissected that thing until it hit "totaled" $$ figure, but they didn't.

I just had a case where Geico estimated the damage to be $1,400. The vehicle ended up being totaled out for about $14,000. Usually the insurance person doing the appraisal has never turned a wrench in their life. I'd start browsing for a replacement Tundra.

Update. So I got a call from insurance yesterday wanting to know what shop to send the estimate check to.

My guess is they are still planning to fix the truck since there are funds being issues.

Toyota hasnt finished taking my truck apart to see how much extra money they are going to need. My guess is it will not be a loss (kind of starting to wish it were...i love the truck dont get me wrong)

I dont think an insurance place would start to issue funds if there might be a chance of a loss? That just seems silly to do that.

I wouldnt let them issue any $$ to anyone until you have all your estimates in and YOU have selected a repair shop. Once you accept that check, you are done.
Tell them once you select a shop, you will let them know and they can deal with that shop.

Had hail damage to my old Silverado and insurance wanted to cut me a check, I declined and it made them mad. Took over two months to fix all that damage
but it got fixed and I had a rental.

Traded it in on my current Tundra !!!!
