Exclamation Under my 3/36 Battery bad have a look.

Called dealer to see if this was covered under my 3/36 they say no. Why would this not be covered I asked service guy said it's a wear item.
Ok but just today My wife's Tacoma got a new replacement battery put in because it was bad. So I made an appointment for Tuesday to talk to them in person ....
What do you guys / gals think? Picture of what it looks like, does that look normal to any of you?

This is what they gave us for her Tacoma will it work in my 2012 5.7 SR5 TRD? They did not install because she could not wait so they just put in one back seat.

Is there a problem with the battery other than the way it looks? You can clean that up with a can of Coke or some baking powder & water.

that oxidization is common on the oem batterys on our tundras. I just went and bought a new battery and had them install new clamps.

That's about how mine has looked for 7 years. Its pretty normal no matter what the vehicle is. Its not just a Toyota thing. Batteries will corrode in any vehicle. A simple mix of baking soda and water and a brush and its all taken care of.

No, Toyota doesn't need to replace it.

Mine looks like that. It's annoying because when I wash out my engine bay, the acid drips on the ground and stains my driveway. When it dies, I'll get a different kind of battery...optima or some other sealed battery.

When you lose one sense your other senses are enhanced.
That's why people with no sense of humor have an increased sense of freakin' importance.

Toyota replaced it under my 3/36 warranty, it was leaking acid so they replaced no questions asked.
That might be normal on some batteries but this was not a normal corrosion.
When you pay what we do for or trucks and still have 3/36 use it because once it's over that's it. I paid for a warranty I used it for what was needed.
Thanks guys for all info....

I had the 7/100k warranty which has expired. Used it once for the rear wheel bearing issue.

I still have the original battery. I did get some dielectric grease and put on the battery terminals which has helped with the corrosion issue.

While there they also fixed my shaking azz running lights . Also my truck when pulling up to a stop
light cold or warm would idle down below 500 rpms. They cleaned the throttle bottle under warranty.
I say they took care of me damn good...

The cost of the warranty was well worth it just for that 1 case. Total bill would have been about $1100 if it wasn't for the warranty.

Sounds like there was a bad batch of batteries for a while as there have been a few other mentions of batteries leaking and causing some corrosion issues on the truck itself under the battery trays.
