Not rusting out but the pipes have surface rust for sure. Like a month after the install the surface started to rust and look bad. My stock exhaust didn't have a spec of surface rust on it after 6 months.

Have you seen the Pro exhaust from the rear of the truck before? You can see the surface rusty pipes. They're rusty looking to the welded tips, but the shiny tips don't rust.

It's actually pretty bad looking. I may have to paint the pipes black or something once it gets worse (which it will, I drove behind an older Tundra that had the TRD exhaust yesterday and it looked like a rusted up mess...looked really bad. But the tips were still nice and shiny lol

Where did you get the idea that BA mufflers have a constant noise? From what I've heard, he can make them quieter than stock when cruising and they wake up with a deep rumble when you step on it. (i.e. 8" or 10" system.)

I don't know. But it couldn't hurt. That's why I'm looking hard at high quality stainless options

Ah, gotcha. Is the TRD supposed to be high quality stainless? I thought so but can't remember. Is the light surface rusting a problem is low quality stainless? I can get a pic if it helps.

It's 409SS. I am pretty sure it also said USA on the print where I saw 409 on mine.

409 really shouldn't ever rust through, but will develop surface rust.

409 stainless will develop surface rust quicker than aluminized mild steel, but aluminized mild steel will develop perforating rust quicker than 409.

Just to add another layer of mystery, there is also aluminized 409.

I don't care about the environment. Neither do you.

Talked with Keith about rust when looking into exhausts and my understanding is surface rust is what happens with 409 ss and it's not a big deal.

So I've got a few hundred miles on the exhaust now.

Loving it more!

Zero drone. Haven't towed with it yet.

I've read complaints of drone and reduced low end. My experience is the opposite. I don't know if numbers would support my feeling but I think the truck accelerates better now. Could be trans shift points or power or I don't know but I really like how it feels now. Shift points under power are perfect.
