Well, I should have listened to you guys on the forum. I bought some weathertec mats for my tundra and the passenger side matt is sliding up and I really don't want to have to Velcro the darn thing. Doesn't weathertec know about this problem? How hard would it be to just make the passenger side mat a little longer so this doesn't happen. I used to be a weaathertec customer for years but now........
It looks like husky is going to get an order for some mats in the future.
I have not had huskyliners before but from what I have read they work a lot better. I know the weathertec design for the tundra has a slippage problem. My other vehicles I have owned had no problem with weathertec. It is disappointing. That's $120 down the drain.
I've had mine for 7 years, and in that seven years I only had one person move the mat. Some people are just rough on things.
Only one side of the Velcro is needed anyway from what I have read, and only a small piece at that. Easy fix if needed and cheaper than buying new ones.
I have husky one's in my car and they do have spikes built in. Both are nice products.
the drivers side has the locking tabs which work great but the passenger just has that tooth thing they use which is not working. I will get a big piece of Velcro and see if I can fix the problem. I don't know why weathertec did not come up with a solution already for this.
I bought some 3m faster strips to put on the lip over the door jam. In my Tahoe they didnt even supply the teeth for the passenger side, I just put the hard side of industrial velcro on the bottom.
I went with the weathertech regardless, because I feel they are higher quality and more durable. I'll solve the minor annoyances on my own.
This is one of the fasteners I'm referring to, I have several types.
The Husky X-Act passenger mat has a 'screw' that goes into the carpet to hold it in place.
It is also 'fit to size' and doesn't have any room to move forward.
I ended up putting a very thin piece of wood under the carpet, with a tiny hole drilled in it, for it to screw into.
Probably overkill on my part, but I'm like that...:|
I do luv the Husky X-act mats, front and rear in my 2014 DC.....
I used these in my 2016 it's two piece, you cut a hole in your floor mat than snap the two pieces (one on each side) they give you a screw in tab that you screw into your carpet put your mat over the tab and turn it. Looks just like the drivers side. I also used them in my wife Rav4
Weathertec is sending me some new tech grips but I am not sure if it will help. The last time the wife drove in car the mat stayed in place tho.
Go figure.
I found some floor mat clips that actually fit a Volkswagen. These are awesome in my opinion. My wife is rough on the passenger side mats. She pushes them all over the place. 3 months of these and they haven't moved the slightest amount.
Husky X-ACT sure seem like they fit much better. Had these in my 14 SR5 and now in my 19 TRD PRO. I had Weather Tech in 08 Tacoma and thought they were like a harder plastic and slippery.
So, I made the same mistake. Have had WeatherTechs in several other vehicles and always liked them. Didn't think twice before buying them for the Tundra. Anyway, I was able to secure the passenger floor mat to my satisfaction. I found on ebay clips that thread into the carpet and corresponding sockets that snap into the existing holes on the passenger floor mat. It has held up perfectly for several years now. Link to the sockets below but I can't find the exact clips I bought. Looks like there are people selling both the clips and the sockets now. The clips have the same 90 degree turn lock mechanism as the driver's side.
ThinAir thanks for the info. I just put some Velcro on the bottom side of the passengers side mat. Time will tell how this works for now. Weathertec should have some Velcro just for this purpose in their tundra matt boxes. It sure would help their reputation of being a top quality vendor.(Hint Hint weathertec if you are listening)
