If you just get the plug & play version the wiring harness plugs in to the OBD port. Makes wiring much easier. I can't imagine that this would need to be different on the 2018.

That is the point, 2018 Tundra has a different OBDII than previous Tundra's, this is the first time in years it has changed. They need to update the software I was told to get that to work. Then the hard wired version they say they cannot verify the wire positions and color for the 2018. This is why I was asking

Thank you for clarifying! I wasn't aware the OBD had changed for 2018. I almost ordered my AMP power steps last week, so I'm glad to find this out now so I can take some more time to research.

@azTony I have not been able to find anything about a change in the OBD-II on the 2018s. Can you provide a link? I thought the whole point of OBD-II is that it's pretty much universal and should be the same on all vehicles. (I know they can have a few different protocols, but these are still a set of global standardized protocols aren't they?)

Maybe @Svcustoms as a dealer would be able to confirm from AMP if the Powersteps work on the 2018 Tundras?

Hello Tony,

I work for AMP Research. I am in the customer/technical service department.

The 2018 Tundra was just released, and there have been some changes to the electronics. I am giving you the information that is currently available to me. I just had a meeting with one of the engineers to see where we are with these new vehicles. As I stated, we have had a few Toyota and AMP Research dealers install our 75137-01A kits onto the new vehicle, but our engineers have not had a new 2018 Tundra locally to properly verify the wiring. The vehicle has not been available locally to verify. This is something that they are currently working on. The engineers want to verify all applications personally.

Regards,

Thanks! I was just on the phone with a local truck accessories dealer talking to him about some other stuff I'm getting and he brought it up too: "by the way, I'm not sure if you're looking in to those AMP power steps as well, but they don't work with the 2018s". Kinda funny that he brought it up all on his own right after I posted here.

Just got this from him...

Hello Tony,

The physical OBDII plug did not change. The software onboard the BCM did change for the 2018 Tundra, so our current OBDII plug does not recognize the codes for the door ajar signals. This needs to be updated. This is what we are working on. The Ram vehicles have a similar change for their 2018 models as well. Ford and GM did not change.

Regards,
