The option presented by Fireman1291 is awesome; BUT requires you lose a 3 inches headroom. I have a CM and my entire family is over 6 foot.

I guess i'm looking for less of a storage solution and more of a safe solution. Something where I can leave a firearm in the vehicle for extended periods of time without constantly worrying about it.

It would be awesome if anyone offered a "safe" like Locker'down but in the form factor like ESP has.

Let me address your concerns.

Hinges on the outside: These hinges are more secure than a piano hinge that even law enforcement uses. I did a repair on a box for LA County Sheriff and that box had a piano hinge. I was able to take a small punch and push the hinge pin right out. Our hinges are steel with a stainless steel pin that is pressed in at 2 tons of pressure. The only way that anyone will get through the hinge is with a cutoff wheel. At that point it doesn't matter what kind of hinge you have.

Lock Options: We looked at several types of locks. We looked at the Combi-Cam Combo lock, we looked at BOLT, and we looked at some barrell locks. The Combi-Cam combo lock is very weak. The cam that actually comes with it is probably a little less than 1/8". Plus the top of the lock has a high profile and would cause clearance issues. BOLT was out of the question due to the body length of the lock. Would have lost a lot of room inside the box. We just could not find a decent barrel lock that would work. The lock we use has a heavy duty cam that has two bends in it for strength, and the cam itself is 1/4" thick, so it is pretty stout. Can you defeat it? Yeah, probably, but that is going to be true for any lock.

We could definately make it out of steel, but it already weighs 50lbs lol. I did one with steel lids for mine with the box still aluminum and it was 70lbs. Imagine if the whole thing was steel. it would weigh a ton. I almost took a finger off when I dropped one of the lids and didn't get my finger out of the way, haha

Feel free to get with me if anyone has questions.

Technically, no one NEEDS to go to Facebook for this.
I decided to use Facebook because it helps us spread the word and keep track of who buys in.

All you need to do is :

Purchase the box on their website https://www.esptruck.com/product-pag...r-seat-storage

Use promo code TTGROUPBUY at checkout

Post here in the comments when you've paid so I can keep a master list going.

I plugged in the code to see what the discount would be and got a message saying code is only valid for specific products... no discount for a double cab box???
