We are heading out the weekend after next. I still gotta get the water and waste tanks strained out. I have been to busy with my bed rack build to get to it. Maybe this weekend.

Hopefully you are going to have better weather downstate then forecast for us in western NY this weekend.

Saturday 44
Sunday 28.

I uncovered mine this past Friday but will not use until probably May. First booked trip is memorial day but will watch for any good weather weekends and jump on the chance to get out.

Well I like to say that a bad day camping still beats a good day at work. Glad you still had a good time.

And this is why we have invested our hard earned $$ into things like nice rigs with heat! Ready for any weather that may come!

Does it count if the wife and kids head out. They are back from Grey Wolf lodge on the april 20th and asked me to tow the camper to ANY campground so they can camp for a few days while I work and live at home.

the closest campground is completely sold out...they are only one that has a 20000 indoor activity center with indoor heat pool, sauna and hot tub .

so I have to find one soon.

Awesome thread!

Just found this thread, big camping family here. We own at least 5 or 6 tents and a 2011 Rockwood Roo 233S (but need to upgrade since our 4 boys are growing like weeds).

Just got back from Ray Roberts Lake SP this past weekend, beautiful weather for it too! 1st outing with Roo in over 2 years and 1st pull with the new tow vehicle, AKA Bevo!

We have camped all over the country, mostly in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Ohio. A couple of my favorites are Mueller SP in Colorado and Hocking Hills SP in Ohio.

EDIT: added this campfire picture...

In all of my years photographing our campfires, this one was intriguing!

I'm in the DFW area also. What would you say are your favorite Texas state parks for camping?

Hey Equin,

We enjoyed Ray Roberts (Isle du Bois area) and will definitely go back. Inks Lake, Colorado Bend, and Enchanted Rock are a few of our Texas favorites. Most of my hunting, camping, and fishing (as a child and college student) was done out at Belton Lake, Ft Hood areas, Canyon Lake, McQueeney, and Buchanon. Of course, coastal camping and fishing down by the Gulf (Galveston, and Bob Hall Pier in Chorpus) in the back of our 80's econoline van (lol) was fun.

We haven't been, but on our list are: Lake Mineral Wells, Palo Duro, Dinosaur Valley, Possum Kingdom, and Sam Houston National Forrest area (I want to backpack hike the Lone Star Hiking Trail someday).

Just up the road near Sulphur, OK lies Chickasaw National Rec Area (on Lake of the Arbuckles). We've been there several times and the sites are awesome - we will definitely go back. The hiking trails are nice and Turner Falls is close by (nice wading pools, swimming holes, etc). Sulphur has some shops and a casino, but I haven't been to town.

Lake Murray SP is nice but always full (great small mouth bass lake). We haven't been to Robbers Cave SP, but I hear it is nice.

Haven't fished in a while, but I need to get out and drown a lure just to see what bites...

Great photos, Gaslight, and thanks for the info. I've only been to a few state parks and have only camped at two of them - Tyler and Cleburne. Both were nice.

I've visited Palo Duro and loved it, but haven't camped there yet. I hear it's the second biggest canyon in the U.S. after the Grand Canyon, and having never been to the Grand Canyon, I was really impressed.

I like your hybrid camper. Would like to get a used pop up when my son gets older and do some semi-glamping with it. In the meantime, I hope to take him tent camping hopefully this coming Fall.

I've been to Ardmore and had fun jumping off their diving platform, but that was many years ago. Had not thought about OK camping til you mentioned it. Makes sense since it's relatively close to us here in N. TX.

Others on my to-do list are Davis Mountains, Balmorrhea and Big Bend State Parks. Too bad they're kind of far from us.
