2016 Tundra Double Cab Sub Box BEHIND seat possible?

I have a 2016 Tundra Double Cab Limited and I was wondering if it is possible to install a Subwoofer Enclosure BEHIND the rear seats?

The reason for behind the seats is that I was hoping to keep the Under Seat Storage Box intact. Is there enough room behind the seats to accommodate a sub enclosure?

Thanks!

I explored this option on my 2012 dbl cab..wasn't gonna work at all, there's no space to make a decent box that'll sound good.

I researched it as well.
Just not enough room behind the seat.
Besides, when you lift the seat bottom, the back goes even more rearward.

I ended up with a SB-T-TUNDB3/10TW3 Stealthbox..

Do they have an enclosure that holds 1 sub instead of 2? Maybe 1 spot for the amp and 1 for the sub so it all fits under the seat.

@1lowlife

Is that swingcase secure enough to use without a bed cover? I'm thinking of not adding a tool box this time around and if I lose under seat storage I'd need somewhere to stick the odds and ends I carry.

On topic, that 8w7 would probably be pretty sweet but it's under seat set up not behind. I don't think anything will work behind.
@Aquanaut I've been contemplating sacrificing the smaller passenger rear seat and putting a box there. Just need to figure a way to securely mount it. My last truck I just yanked entire rear seat out. I don't have kids though and anytime we go anywhere my wife's car is used. I don't think I'm gonna go that extreme this time but like I said I'm debating giving up the one seat

Or another idea is putting the sub behind my console on the floor area and extending box under rear seat. I'd give up my under seat storage though and not sure I am willing to do that

Final option, only easily viable if you have the front middle jump seat though, yank it out and do a custom center console/sub box. Being you have a limited I imagine you have oem center console and that's probably not easily accomplished

Here's a couple of options I built a few years back for my DC. I know you're looking for behind the seat, but I just don't think the room is there. I made these two for under the seat, but I'm using the single JL 13 TW5 for my sub. I did lose the storage under the drivers side, but I just put a clear storage bin under the rear pass side and it was fine.

One swing case was enough for me.
Some put them on both sides.
They easily lift out if you need bed room.

You can put a padlock on the swing case to secure it if you don't have a cover.

Also the lid has it's own keyed lock.

I've got gloves, jumper cables, a rain coat, tools, flares, and a bunch of other stuff in mine.

When I first researched subs, I wanted a JL Audio SB-T-TUNDC/8W7.
Actually had my heart set on it after reading great reviews.

BUT, Toyota changed/lowered the rear seat in the DC in the 14^ trucks
The SB-T-TUNDC/8W7 will not fit under the back seat in a 14 and up double cab.
So I bought the twin 10.

They do make other sizes that can fit under the rear, and maybe even under the front seat..

Car Audio - Subwoofer Systems - MircoSub?

Some of them even have built-in amps..

Car Audio - Subwoofer Systems - MicroSub+?

I kinda did that in my 05 DC, my kids grew up in the truck.
I had 3 Fosgate amps under the front bench seat.
2 old school Fosgate punches for front and rear (on each side) and a newer one (at the time, in the center) for the sub.
I had a 10 inch Fosgate punch sub in the box.
I had a connector in the speaker wire to the box so I could pull it out if needed.
Like if I needed 3 adults in the back seat, or if I needed to fold the rear seat down.
It served it's purpose, adding a bit of bass, but was no where as sweet as what I have now.

That's about all i've got in my storage case now and really about all i carried in my toolbox. after my wreck i realized how little was really in there. i'm thinking i dont want to give up the bed space for such small items that dont necessitate a tool box. i think that swing case would be perfect. i wonder if the high sides of the tundra bed, plus being lifted a few inches might keep most from even seeing I have it in there. Add the locks for keeping small time opportunistic thieves out and just be relegated to the fact that someone might steal it, though it wouldnt be worth their time/effort.

I was wondering why the w7 only went up to 2013 models. didnt realize that about the rear seat.

I waited years for image dynamics to release the idmax15, finally bought one and then wrecked my truck. this time around i'm trying to not have wires/amps/subs everywhere but damnit i just dont want to give up that idmax15. I've had more setups than i care to admit in more trucks than i care to admit and i've found over the years, anything less than 2 12" subs that can take high power or 1 solid 15, i'm just not gonna like it.

For me, I really liked the JL better. I gave the other box with the dual 10's to my buddy with the same truck. He still has it and loves it.

I had built a SQ system in my last truck and have everything here to start on the new truck. I plan on keeping that JL for the new system as well. I'm glad somebody said the JL Stealthbox doesn't fit in the 15's. I was considering trying one out.

I haven't looked under the rear seat of a '14+, but would it be possible to either use some spacers to move the seat up slightly, or maybe the rear brackets from the earlier models would bolt on to raise the seat back up?
