As is any of the Jeffersons Reserve bourbons but understand many of the higher price points are just marketing. Have many a good connections in the bourbon industry so feel free to pm with any recommendations based on price point.

Just starting to get into Scotch, first bottle was Glenmorangie Original. Still getting used to it. It was the only one I could find with decent reviews for under $50.

I really like their double rye. It's great. I love rye tho, rye whiskey and rye vodka.

Saturday I found a new irish whiskey at my local market, new there anyways... Sexton. Man, it's only $1 more than Jaamo, but it's great, better than jaamo even. And I love Jameson.

We tried it. It's definitely smooth and aromatic, with caramel and vanilla overtones. Generally, I'm not a fan of flavored whiskies, and blending port wine with whiskey is a little strange. It's a worthy contender to highest aperitif/happy hour honors (We rated it 9 out of 10). It's not quite up to Remy-Martin VSOP (10/10) for special occasions, and like Remy-Martin, it's a little pricey for regular drinking. For our regular happy hours, we'll stick with our "utility bourbon"...Wild Turkey 101 (8/10).

Incidentally, we decided to try the BH Dark Rye out with some of those "freezable" stainless steel ice cubes to avoid dilution. Four of the cubes we selected make an even layer in our sippin' tumblers. They worked pretty well for the first drink, but not much cooling during the second. Next time, we're thinking of trying a combination of large ice cube for the first drink, with stainless cubes supplementing the second.

I almost bought that the other day, but then found Sexton. The port blending turned me away. I like rye, but don't need no wine in my whiskey.

On the frozen rock/stone cubes. I found they only work for one drink, I have an ice ball maker and that works better. One big ass ball works for 2 drinks normally with minimal waterdowning.

I'm late to the party but just finished a bottle of that. I liked it, they did a good job not going overboard with the mesquite but you knew it was there. I'd buy it again for the right price.

I teach whiskey appreciation. No kidding, it's an actual thing. SingleMaltSippin on insta if you wonder what I'm into at the moment. I drink single malt Scotches 90% of the time, and the other 10% revolve around my classes and tasting events that use American, Japanese, or Irish whiskeys.
Current open bottles include Hibiki 17, Glenmorangie Finealta, Ardbeg An Oa, Laphroaig Lore, Tomatin 18, Taketsuru 21, Glenlivet Nadurra Peated Cask...and about a dozen more.
If I was pressed to recommend a quality Scotch for less than $100, I'd aim someone who's brand new to whiskey any of the Glenmorangie 12yr olds (they're aged in various casks, like sherry, bourbon, saurternes or port, so pick one that sounds interesting to you) and if they knew they could tolerate smokiness, I'd aim them at Talisker Distiller's Edition. Also, I'd want them to get both of these bottles and try them side by side with friends, and give away the one they can't enjoy to one of the buddies who does.
PM me if you'd like a "next bottle" recommendation based on what you already know you like (and do it before your current bottle is empty, for side by side purposes...)
