So its been a work week since I instated the new policy.

I budged and allowed them to keep their phones on them as some of them have kids or families. But I was very clear that if i see them on their phones during the day then it will be a problem, they have to be on silent and only for emergencies.

zero tolerance.

Well, today one of my male employees kept posting shit on his FB, dumbass added me as a friend so i can see everything.
one post, two posts, three posts, and now four.

I go look for him as i can see that he is still clocked in, cant find him, as i'm walking back to the office he emerges from the restroom so I call him into the office and reminded him that he has me on his FB and i can see all his posts.

His response is that he is using it while he is in the bathroom.

I reminded him that in the cell phone policy it clearly states that you will not take your cell phone to the restroom.
Supposedly he has an upset stomach, i think he's just using the restroom as an excuse to be on his phone.

I told him that this is his first and final warning and i'm taking the cellphone policy very seriously.

damn, its a simple thing... and i'm sure he'll be the first one to get fired over it... maybe him or this other girl that comes back on monday she was on vacay for a week.. she also has a cellphone problem which i'm sure will get her fired also.

I find cell phones in places like the service industry discourage employees being proactive and finding things to fix and work on.

I've never had my cell phone at work. Hell, my cell phone now stays at home when I'm at work b/c I work in an environment where none of that technology is allowed.

More people should be forced to be away from their phones. The shit I see now in public is a disgrace. Some people go through serious anxiety issues without their phones and access to Fakebook.

Good luck with your decision. I hate the idea of someone pooping their pants and putting everyone in diapers. I personally like the idea of letting them keep them, but the first time its abused they are sent home for the day without pay. Those that can handle it shouldn't have to pay for those who can't. Those who can't should realize their inabilities. They are grown-ass adults.

I'm exactly the opposite since I know big brother is listening in on my phone calls so anything personal is done via a cellphone. Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but that's just me.

Thankfully, we have flex time so any time on the phone (i.e. urgent matters only) I walk outside or get near a window to make and stay later to make up for it.

My boss or anyone in charge usually doesn't have an issue with it so long as it's an important matter that can't be dealt with after hours, but then again not too many people have the same luxury as me.

If I get a doctor's call in a classified area I'll ask him to keep it vague and ask if they can call back either later that day or the following day after 4pm if it's something sensitive in nature as I can come in early and leave early so long as I'm at work between 9-3pm at a minimum.

One guy I work with out of Virginia is in by 4am and out by 12pm and management doesn't care so long as the work gets done.
