Is the Desert Eagle 1911 the one you are sold on... or just saying 1911 in general.
I carry a Rock Island Armory 1911. Bi-tone (like a silver/pewter frame, with black slide, grips, trigger). I upgraded the grips to Hogue rubberized and contoured grips (best $12 I could have spend on the gun). I have about 2,500 round through it. Just recently upgrade the recoil spring to an 18.5 pound spring. Out the door at a mom and pop shop (couldn't find anybody else that had the bitone) I was right around $580.
Now you can pic up a GI series Rock Island for about $500

Yeah... I have the app... yup, I'm bored

I have a 50 cal desert eagle but that is the only experience I have with them.

If it is a true Desert Eagle built by Hebrews then get it.

I would suggest an RIA with the beavertail and bobbed hammer.

Cheaper and a good carry gun. The one I am carrying took a while to get reliable but now I carry it every day.

Trust me. I have 1911's from Wilson Combat down to Tisas and everything in between. 1911's are not for everyone and they can be very finicky with everything from the type of ammo to how hard your grip is.

I've been drooling over the sig sauer 1911 extreme and scorpion for a while. I shot a few different kimbers, colts, Remington's, Taurus and Springfields but nothing felt as tight or comfortable to me, as the scorpion. I finally picked the carry model a few months ago and haven't looked back.

Most of the time the issue is the feed ramp... If I recall, Slim's needed some polishing, as many others have also needed, especially to RELIABLY feed.

I have read a lot of issues with kimbers, however, they are still a badass gun.

My 1911 was used, and I can see where the feed ramp was polished/worked. It is a Sprinfield. Might have been done at the factory, might have been done by previous owner. It was lightly used, likely was done at the factory.
