Even better that it fixed my problem and I didn't have to go deal with the numb-nuts at BestBuy!

Yeah its super lightweight. I have 8 & 9 weights for salt and working on a short stick 10wt for next year. With the boats out if figured I'd try some streams and also bring it hiking / camping.

Take a deck of cards and remove the kings and aces. now every card represents one of the numbers on the board (Jacks are 11 and Queens are 12). Also all numbers correspond with the numbers possible on a pair of dice. Everybody ante's up (you decide how much) using poker chips. We usually buy in for $5, chips are 25 cents each.

Play starts with someone rolling the dice to eliminate 4 of the horses. As they are eliminated they will be moved to the front of the board and represent a payment to the bank. All the cards are dealt to the players (some may end up with more cards than the others. Its ok as the deal passes around). Everyone checks their cards and discards any that match the (out) horses. You can then lay your cards down (doesn't mater if others see your cards).

The person left of the dealer starts by rolling the dice. If they roll any number matching any of the OUT horses they make a payment to the bank. If they roll a number matching one of the IN horses that horse moves up 1 space. You'll notice the horses move according to the odds of rolling that number on the dice. Much harder to roll a 2 than a 7 so the 2 has to move less than the 7.

Play continues until a horse wins. Anyone with a card that matches the winning horse gets paid 1/4 of the pot. If you have 2 matching cards you get 1/2 the pot.

The payment to the bank is as follows
If you roll the dice and it matches the first horse out you pay 1 chip.
If you roll the dice and it matches the second horse out you pay 2 chips.
If you roll the dice and it matches the third horse out you pay 3 chips.
If you roll the dice and it matches the forth horse out you pay 4 chips.
As play goes on people tend to start yelling out the horse number they want to win.

It's a blast and you can make it as cheap or expensive as you are comfortable with. Penny chips or dollar chips.
You could make a game using a sheet and a marker. It could be car racing or just about anything you like to represent the horses.

I think that's it.

@Ben_iv - Well my front tires were finally to the point where Discount Tire wouldn't touch them anymore so needed tires.

But I'm still getting my bosses truck when it gets time for him to get a new company truck. I just don't think that's going to happen as soon as I was hoping. I might have to wait another year.

So, til then I'm going to try and resist buying to much stuff. Try.
