2007 Tundra Transmission problems
07 Tundra dual cab SR5, V8
Clutch does not engage when cold or after sitting for a day or more.
Have to rev engine to get fluid to clutch, then it works.
Transmission does not down shift when breaking hard to stop or slow down. Engine revs up then slams into gear.
Check Engine light came on, Traction Assist slip indicator light on, and VSC light were on. Dealer saw 4 errors tagged, showing transmission solenoids have failed. Transmission fluid leak.
Dealer Solution: Replace the transmission and replace the drive shaft
$8,500, plus $1,000 to replace the leaky water pump. Charged me $150 for diagnosis and 2 quarts of fluid.
My Solution: go to a transmission specialist.
diagnosis was free, faulty transmission fluid pump, possible solenoid problems, leaking water pump. Cost $1800. If rebuild is needed, then $4,000.
$800 deposit for them to pull the Tranny and find out what is really the problem. Will know tomorrow.
Dealer did two recall repairs. No charge. Driver door window switch and reprogram computer for disabling gas pedal when braking hard.
