I currently have 275/70/18 Terra Grapplers on an 18x9 wheel with +25 offset, and they don't rub. I'm considering a 295/70/18 tire on the same wheels. I also have a Rough Country leveling kit in the front with one shim.
I've searched on this forum and find mixed answers. Some say no bending/trimming is required. Some say slight modification is required. Does anyone know for sure what I'll have to bend/trim?
I've got 285's BFG all terrains, a 3/1 procomp leveling kit with 1.25 in wheel spacers and mine rub in reverse when i have the wheel turned all the way. but it only rubs a little. I've heard of people having bigger tires with no issues though..
Are you on stock wheels? Don't the wheel spacers make it more likely to rub as opposed to stock with no spacers and +60 offset wheels or whatever they are?
The wheels came with the truck im not sure what brand they are they came with the Xsp-x package. its a package that southeast toyota offers I'm not sure what offset they are either. When I had my 2010 tundra i had the same leveling kit on it with 295 tires without the spacers and they didn't rub so ya the spacers may have something to do with it
I have 295/70r18s on a +20 wheel and all I really had to do is remove the front mud flap plastic things...I'm lifted about 3.25 up front... I have a little bit of rub at full lock but I rarely push the steering to full lock and it a pretty minor rub so it doesn't bug me... Easy to get rid of when it starts to get to me
I will take a couple of pictures this afternoon and get them on here. Just got them mounted last Wednesday then was out of town all weekend. Love the look of the ST Maxx tires though.
- They look a ton more aggressive than my Terra Grapplers
- They are slightly louder on the road. It doesn't bother me though
- I had to remove the front mud flaps in front of the tires. They still rub when at full lock going forward on the rear plastic liner right behind the front tires. It's not bad enough to worry about right now though.
- The only negative I've noticed is that they tend to wander at higher speeds, like over 50 mph on a two lane road. I think I've read before that more aggressive treaded tires tend to do this. It's not bad, but I never noticed it with my old tires.
