I do some lite 4-wheeling a couple of times a year and even if I didn't figure the option would add to the re-sale value..
Which imagine will not be anytime soon if this one holds up like the other 2 I've owned... My first toyota truck "yr 80" last me 10 yrs (rolled it in a ice storm), and the second one "yr 90" drove for near 17yrs ( more or less got tired of driving it and had been holding out for toyota to come out with what I perceived as a substantial truck of some capability).

4x4 vs 2wd for gas mileage

I have a 4x4, but I'm wondering if I could have got by with the 2wd for better gas mileage.
Anyone know the "real world" difference?

I have 4WD.
When I use it a lot.
My mpg's go down about 3mpg.
So I would think it would be about the same.

4x4 was the way to go for me. Still some places around here to go. Most people do not go 4 wheeling in a 2 wheel drive.

4x4 only way up here as you either hit the skeg or clay if you slide off what the oil companies call a hi grade ( dirt and crap pulled from each side to make the drainage), and need lift to save lower fenders when you do. Went with B package to delete stiff shocks, rides real nice on washboard roads. Have not seen a 2 wheel unit since 1985 in the patch.

dealer installed black heated leather seats /bug deflector/side steps/command start/bed mat

Went up to the white mountains by Loudon, to get an idea for the next year at the track, on Xmas Eve from Newport, RI in a 98 Chevy and the snow was a very good challenge for a 2wd. Almost spent Xmas up there.
