Mine was done by Liquid-Liners here in Savannah and they did a great job. They use a similar two part polymer as to what Line-X and Rhino use. I had Line-X in the '02 Tacoma and you could not beat it. Nothing hurt it and it always looked like the day it was sprayed in (even after I totaled the truck).
Spray-ins are the way to go, IMO. BUT and this is a big BUT, the product has everything to do with the installation. The prep. and the technique used makes the material into an OK, Great!, or Yuck! liner.

Exactly! My liner is Pro Cote, the product itself is similar to Line X but the prep work is much more detailed. The shop I had it installed in is a small family business, father and son who have been doing it for years and are experienced in applying it-that makes all the difference in the world.

Wow! Now that's some great work with a lot of detail.

Thumbs up

Just did the Herculiner yesterday. I'm impressed with the turn out. Only cost me $76 from Walmart. It took me about 6 hours to complete (in my driveway) only because it was deadly hot outside and I was a little miserable. If I had a nice ventilated garage it would of been easier. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the little scuff pad they give you in the kit. It is way to small to do the whole bed. I recommend using an electric drill with a scuff attachment for the prepping.

Hey Doc, we hope you're documenting this transformation with photos and please post them when your project is complete.

Here are some pics. Not a perfect job, but damn close. I blame the heat, ; ).

The first image is before of course, the second was taken when I was pulling the tape off, and the third is just an image of the top rail on the front of the bed.

Turned out very nice! Sweet documentation! I imagine the color will become more even as it completely dries. The front bed rail looks great too. When pulling off the masking does the liner material cooperate or is there a trick to it? Doc, I commend you on your patients and a great job!

Thanks for the cudo's. I only waited about 40 minutes after the second coat to start pulling off the tape (I had a final that night so I was rushing to get done so I could study for at least a half hour, ) and it came off pretty easily. The only part that was kind of difficult to get off was around the top of the tailgate because the tape was wrapped underneath the plastic top rail. The directions said to use a razor to cut a little bit along the edge and it came out just fine, I just had to pay attention a little more closely for that part. Overall though the tape came off pretty easy. The color has stabilized after sitting for a full 24 hours (for complete curing to take place). My neighbor came over to see the results and said it looks like it was done at the factory and doesn't look DIY at all. Overall, as I said before, I'm happy with the results.

Thinking about going the herculiner myself. Was the one gallon that comes with the kit enough to do the job? I have a double cab myself and the box says it will do 6 foot beds but I believe our beds are 6 1/2 feet long? Just wondering if you had to buy the extra quart or not. Thanks.

I did myself with some rhino for $429, i am very impressed with the job. I had a local friend do it, it might be a little bit to much money but its worth it.

Yes, the gallon was enough to finish the 6 1/2 ft bed. You can always buy an extra quart later and add another layer to the bed if you want a thicker layer.
