I traded my 1995 Toyota Tacoma extended cab 4x4 with 157,000 miles on it. That was a great truck but i just needed something bigger. 2007 Tundra Limited D-cab TRD. I hope this truck is as easy to own as the Tacoma.

I'm trading in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt, its been nothing but problems the past year, and the dealership had the car for a month, rebuilt the transmission twice, and it still doesn't shift smooth, even refuses to shift into any gear at times. 5 speed manual tranny. Apparently Italy can't build cars either.

To appease chevyman, I will consider a new Silverado but I have owned 10 Honda's and 2 Toyota's in the last 31 years and have been very happy with them, especially the resale value. I think I should be able to get 50% of what I payed for my 01 as it only has 45000 miles and is in great shape. Can you do that on a Chevy or a Ford. No problems on the Tundra whatsoever except for 02 sensors replaced under Toyo's extended warranty on them.
I own a new tundra and I traded in a 2000 Silverado LT z71 that had a 112000 miles on it and I got 10000 for it and only paid 21000 when it had 25000 miles on it. You can get that if you take care of it! The new tundra will roll the chevy and squash the ford!

I got rid of a 2004 Dodge 150 SLT

And thank God for that. I had to replace the driver's side electric window and lock switch, the front control module, the body control module and at 158000 km (about 100k miles), I had to do a complete valve job on it.

To top it off, we were towing our 18', 3500 lb trailer and the tranny started to slip. Good riddance to bad garbage.

As for the other trucks, I went and drove every single comparably priced model. I wound up getting my Tundra for less than the Chevy/GM and the dealer treated me better.

I Traded a 07 Rubicon and 1999 Ford-F-150. The Jeep has been to the dealer 6 times since getting it on Feb 07 with various problem and electrical gremlins. The Ford has been good since I had it new but the Tundra definately lightyears better.

Trading in '03 Ford F-150, Supercrew Lariat FX4. Loaded with every option available at the time.
Only has 36000 miles on it, not one single problem with it, just time for something new and Ford didn't want to give me a good enough price on a new 2008 FX4, so I am going back to Toyota. (had a Tacoma prior to the Ford)

my trade

I traded in an 07 Chevy Colorado crew cab with 8k miles. Only had it 5 months and was tired of telling myself I liked it. I bought it for fuel economy and it averaged about 18mpg. I'm averaging 17 and up with my new 08 Tundra and I really really enjoy driving it. This was my first foreign vehicle purchase also.

Traded in a 2000 Ford F-350 crewcab dually on the Tundra. I am sick and tired of problems with Fords!!! What burns me up is that on all problems that I had, Ford mechanics and parts persons all confirmed they were "common" problems with these SuperDuties!!!! A friend of mine has a 2003 Superduty and has the exact same problems. Ford can't find a cure in 3 or more years???? I'll bet $25 of improvments at the factory level could make a $45,000 truck have some quality.
How about ball joints commonly wearing out every 35,000 miles? And I don't have any extra weight on the front, such as a plow. Toyota owners have probably never heard of ball joints!
I emailed a list of problems to Ford and told them that if they offered me a discount to make up for the problems that I would remain a loyal Ford customer. They couldn't of cared less! Must be they have their heads buried so far somewhere that they can't figure out why Toyota is kicking their butts!

That attitude has been integrated into the "Big 3" for decades. I dealt with it with GM in the 80's and early 90's. Dodge in the mid to late 90's. I have been "burned" so many times in the past, I will probably only buy Toyota's (My wife only Honda's) from now on. It's the attitude I get from the service dealership's that burns my ass! Detroit has some great looking cars, with good performance, but they wear you down nickle and dimin' over little (sometimes not so little) crap that should be covered on warranty. The " Don't give a shit" attitude is what has turned me off. Yeah- they got me for a few bucks here and there.....but my last three new vehicles: 2000 4Runner, 2003 Accord and of course an 07 Tundra. I actually don't give a shit when I see a GM plant closing or them on strike somewhere. I know long term, I should care....but I realize that it is that "attitude" towards me as a customer that is causing them to lose ground to foreign car makers. They really don't give a shit.....and My Rant is Over!

Traded a crappy 06 Chevy LT3 extcab. I took alsoa $7000 loss to get rid of it and have peace of mind. Hey chevyman don't you know what's the required equiptment for all chevy's? Duct Tape. If it wasn't the headliner falling off then it was the tail light dangling. $36,000 for crap. Nothing like having your truck only 2 weeks putting on a claybar wax with all doors opened to see the headliner down on all 4 doors. Hell if it wasn't for the sunroof it would have fell all the way. Not to mention the vibrating brakes where your backend shakes so much even on a smooth asphalt.
