Steering wheel vibration again

After having the wheels and tires put on and rebalanced a second time still noticing some steering wheel wobble again at speeds above 55 or 60mph. After 1st rebalance all seemed ok for a little while. Now frustrated and not sure what to do. Anybody have any ideas? I've researched all the posts and can't seem to find a clear answer. What next? go back to the original stock wheels?

I would check your wheel to see if the wheel weights are getting thrown off. Bad install? either way you might take it to a different shop to get it balanced.

I have heard of aluminum wheels being bent (out or round) you should ask them to check this as well.

Also what about an alignment?

Have you noticed it doing it on all types of roads (blacktop, concrete)? I've noticed some vibration in mine on certain stretches of road.

I had vibration right after I got my 33" put on, the tech at 4wheel parts warned me about possible vibration b/w 55-60 before I even left. Apparently, Toyota's steering shaft is not able to be adjusted/tightened like Chevy's and Fords. He said this is the culprit. Not sure I believe him though since after I rotated my tires the problem went away and never came back, even after subsequent rotations. ??

Are the wheels hubcentric? If they are there is a special way to balance them

You may have to get hubcentric rings.

2007 Tundra 5.7, 4x4, The work truck edition. I call her "The Sweet Fleet" It does have: 20 x 9 Mamba M1 wheels, 305/55R20 Nitto Trail Grappler MT tires, 2.4 Readylift leveling kit, Shaved emblems and etc.

I had one shop balance my wheels twice and they swore they were in balance. I then went to another shop and they said they were way off and balanced them fine.

Both shops are pretty reputable. I've always heard that there is something weird about the way Tundra rims are (lug centric or something) and people can have a hard time with balancing them.

I was so glad to get rid of the shakes. I would try another shop first.

Problem resolved again, if anyone is interested, the tire shop replaced the lug nuts with a different type that more closely resembled the stock lug nuts as they apparently fit better than the ones with the install kit. Something about it fitting closer and closing the gap. Anyways, all appears fine this time so we'll see.

Just got a 2010 DC Rock warrior and it does this also. I raised the air pressure from 36 to the recomended 40, but have not driven it yet. I'm hoping it will help. It is really annoying. Suggestions?

hey

im experiencing some wheel wobble as well. can you elaborate a bit about whats different about the lugs? are they shorter? the ones i originally bought came from 4 wheel parts and seem pretty long. about a week later, the company i bought the wheels from sent me some lugs as well. west coast lugz or something like that. in any case, the west coast ones do seem quite a bit shorter than the ones i purchased from 4 wheel.

am i on the right track? should i swap the longer ones for shorter?

I have this problem as well, a few weeks ago the toyota dealer told me that aftermarket wheels tend to have balancing problems, I dont know what to believe. I may just have them rebalanced and hope for the best

I have a problem with the wobble too, but it only occurs between 50-60mph. Not a huge deal, but that is the speed that I do a lot of my driving. I have a free balance and rotation from the dealer so I will see what happens with that. 2010 Silverbullet - do you know what kind of lug nuts they put on the truck?
