Tire Rotation question/stock BFGs
Anyone been switching sides when they rotate their stock BFGs? I would like to cross them over this time. Truck manual shows rotation front to back only, but the tires have no arrow. Called BFG, a young woman on the line told me they weren't directional, but she sounded so bubbly, I wanted to slap my forehead.
Called the dealer, they said that they rotate front to back only, everything, every tire they do, "to avoid problems." Except for a few high performance tires, I thought directional radials went out 20 years ago. What gives?

After many miles, the belts take a "set" to the tire body cords. Switching sides reverses this "set" and increases the likelyhood of belt shift, followed quickly by tread separation. This is worse in extremely hot conditions (like the southwest desert areas).
Just my opinion, but I would never change rotation of tires on the Tundra or any car. If you must rotate from side to side, have tire changed on wheel so that it still rotates in the same direction. |

My Tundra replaced my 98 Dakota, which went 623,000 miles. Most of those miles were on tyres I purchased from America's Tire Store/Discount Tire.
They kept the pressure at 35 lbs and cross rotated the back to the front and the front straight back. The spare was never used. I got 163,000 miles out of one set of Michelins. I have carried 1200 lbs down I-5 from The San Francisco Bay Area to LA, at 70 MPH and been to Phoenix also. Most driving is around half freeway. I've been told that Michelin no longer cares which direction their tires turn.
