Pressurized canister for TPMS (instructions)
Hello!
I swapped my OEM steel wheels with OEM TRD's, and ended up making a pressurized canister for my OEM TPMS sensors to get rid of the dash light. I saw the PVC unit posted up on here, but your sensors are glued in until you crack it open- here's what I did.. I went to home depot and bought: 3" ABS plastic pipe cap 3" ABS threaded pipe end adapter (it slides into the cap- they make 2 of these, one does not work) 3" ABS threaded cap (it has a square jutting out of the end for tightening- use a channel lock) Teflon tape ABS glue And from the auto parts store- 2 rubber valve stems Total cost, about $16. You just glue the thread adapter right into the pipe end with ABS glue. Smear glue inside the cap, then on the adapter, slide on, and let it set overnight. Then drill a hole into the center of the cap- use a tool to pull the valve stem through the hole. I think the hole was roughly .45 or .46" - read the proper hole diameter on your valve stem package. Drop in the 4 sensors- you can add a little bubble wrap or paper towel to quiet down the rattle a bit. They will fit, you may have to rearrange them a few times. Wrap the thread of the cap in the teflon tape (they call it tape, but it's not sticky)- wrap it around several times. Tighten on the cap, pump up to 35psi, and you're done! Their is an easier way!!!! Just have your spare busted down and throw them inside, course if ya get a flat it could be a little dicey with the imbalance!!

I thought of putting them in the spare, but wanted to be able to use it in case of anything
![]() I found out I did have to seal the threaded cap- the teflon tape doesn't seal good enough. I put a bead of silicone inside the threads and tightened it down- the light is still off 14 hours later ![]() I bet plumbers putty would work too (the stuff we use to seal gas pipe threads). I just had the silicone tube handy. Here's a pic of my concoction ![]() -Dave |
