Thumbs up Tire Pressure sensing system did it's job!

Went to the gym after working my 6 to 6 today. Finished around 9pm. Tooled down the road, around the corner, up to the light before the interstate on-ramp. Light was red. Happened to look down, tire low pressure indicator light was on. Decided to not take the 15 mile stretch of dark interstate to my county. Drove on under the interstate, pulled over into a gas station. Driver's side rear tire's got a screw in it. Didn't feel bad about dropping 3 quarters for air, not at all. Drove home on a secondary road. Just got here. After my day, changing a tire on a dark interstate, now then I would have felt kind of screwed.

Dude great post, now I think I'm gonna have to let some air out of one of my tires just to see the light come on. Haha!

I had a nail in my right rear tire.
My luck was, that it was very little air comming out and the tires were worne anyway!

Worked great. That is something Toyota got right.
On my wifes VW Touareg it's on all the time even if you have all tires perfect and it's a PITA!

People ask us if they can/should disable this system all the time, our answer is always no, It's a safety system just like your seatbelt, its there to keep you safe. Great post, glad to hear they worked for you!

The only thing is the sensors can be damaged easily when swapping out tires and transplanting new custom wheels. The dealership's vendor who installed my lift, wheels, and tires broke mine. Turns out they silly puttied it back together so it worked for about an hour then the light came on! Needless to say the dealership was furious and the senor was covered under warranty. However when they were pulling the wheel off...the hubcap of my ProComp wheel busted and ProComp will NOT sell them a replacement cap without the purchase of a new 20" wheel!

So the service manager said he will get one just like it and fabricate it to fit (mine was less deep) and have it painted. Needless to say it's been 4 months and everything was getting finished (the manager was actually gonna fabricate the mounting clips at his house) and when I went in yesterday...."he no longer works here." I'm giving the new service manager 1 week or its court time!

We've got a store in Redding. Call them up and see if they can order the cap for you and if they can find out the price. Then call the dealership and ask them to refund you the amount of the cap. We can usually order in things like that and if they are in stock it should only take about 7-10 days. It can be harder on products we don't stock but the guys at Procomp know who we are and are usually pretty helpful. If you call ask for the manager and explain to him your troubles with the local dealer. It's worth a shot.
