I am amazed by the mileage on my grapplers. To date, over 70,000 miles and still going. I was diligent on tire rotation, but I still think it's impressive.
So...since they are near end of life it's time to look at options and I had a few questions.
Is this mileage common for this tire?
Does anyone get similar results from the Toyo Open Country A/T?
How about BF Goodrich A/T's?
I have a 2008 Tundra Double Cab 4x4. I will add a leveling kit and slightly larger size this time.
I don't know if that is common mileage on the tires although I have heard great things. In all honesty if you're happy with how they looked, performed, ride comfortable and longevity of the tire (which 70k is very impressive) I wouldn't even look at other brands I would try again for 70k
I definitely wouldn't count on getting 70k miles out of every all terrain. While some people have that luck depending on driving habits, terrain, etc...don't use that as an average benchmark.
I am approaching 60K on mine. My rig is heavier than most stock rigs, so I cannot be happier with the performance of these tires. I am armored with a winch and all the other goodies...I will be buying another set by the end of the week.
I'm over 53k on my 295/70-18 Terra's. I like them a lot. They have been 100% trouble free and will go with them in sec. I also did 5k rotations and try to take my turns on the easy side.
I've got less than 10K miles on mine right now, but my neighbor had some on his diesel and got over 60K on them. So far I've got nothing bad to say about mine except coming out of balance. Don't know if it's the tires or what?
EDIT: I may be looking into new tires due to the balancing issue
Yes, love the Trails! I drive a lot of miles every year for work so I will likely stick with an A/T. If I didn't drive so much I would have those or the Muds.
anyone have any issues with balancing these tires? it seems I never have good luck with truck tires and Discount tire---- could be because i live is the 2nd ranked stupidest state in the US (New Mexico), but I have always had issues with Discount Tire balancing my tires......
When I got mine from discouttiredirect.com (wheels and tires) they were great.
When the time came for rotation, I went to local discount tire store and the rotated and rebalanced, its never been as good as from discounttiredirect.com... Bummed.
70k is impressive out of the nitto terra grappler but ive had a set only last me 35k. The new toyo at2's have a 60k mile warranty. By all means I say stick with what works! Unfortunately for me I like a change of scenery every now and again. My current general red labels are at 50k and are DONE! Going with the at2's next. Im. A big fan of toyo/nitto except nitto mud grapplers. Just too damn loud for me.
I currently have the Nitto Terra's and have 72k miles on mine. I have them rotated every other oil change. They have been awesome. They still have a little bit of tread left on them. Mine are 285/65/18's on a stockish 2010 Crewmax.
I'll be replacing them with terra's in maybe a taller size but definitely the same tire.
I think its time! Almost made it to 80k, but this one on the front is getting pretty bad.
All in all, this has been a GREAT tire.
Getting a leveling kit installed tomorrow and then new shoes. Hate to go away from a proven winner, but I believe the Toyo Open Country's will be just as good.
Will post up some pics after the lift and new tires.

Toyo and Nitto from my understanding are made in the same factory and to the same specs- so its pointless.
problem I see in your pic is the alignment; tundra's have an issue with shoulder wear- so if you were happy with the nitto's, get another set, but when you get your leveling kit installed have the place do a SLIGHT negative camber, that way the shoulders don't wear. by slight i mean slight- like -.5* to -1*
thats awesome- let us know how they ride. Nitto also has a mileage- but you have to go through their website to get it. I think its like 50k. if you go one their website it lists it.
just looked at their website- might be wrong about the mileage- Ive been looking at sooooooo many tires lately they kind of blended together lol
