Rim/tire size help....

Hey all it's time for me to get some rims/tires. As of right now I am looking at staying stock height with no spacers or anything. I am looking at the biggest tire/wheel combo in a 18" and a 20".

So that's my question. What is the biggest tire I can go with on a 18, and what's the biggest for a 20".

Also open to suggestions on a black or black with machined that would look fantastic on my truck. I am prob going to go with a Nitto Terra Grappler or Toyo MT.

For the wheels I am looking at:

KMC Misfit with 0 offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/MiniW...d=true&sw=1400

Ultra Baron with 30 offset
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/MiniW...d=true&sw=1400

2011 Tundra CM 4x4 TRD Offroad, SR5, Spruce Mica, Zone 3/1 lift, 20x9 XD Black Hoss, 35x12.5x20 Nitto Trail Grappler, TRD Skidplate, Sunroof, Cold Weather Package, Deck Rail System, etc...
Clarion NX501 NAV/DVD, 2 RE Audio SRX 10's in a custom vented box, HiFonics Brutus 1200.1, Stinger capacitor, 6K 35W HIDs in Fogs, and Low Beams, Plasmaglow Fire and Ice Light Bar, Rhino Liner Hardline, Tri-Fold Bedcover

No idea on the 20's but with 18's I think my setup is as large as you could run stock (I had them prior to my lift) which is 285/70/18 and mine are Terra Grapplers as well.

Also anyone regret not going with 20's over 18's in the long run? I won't be offroad or anything. I do tow my camper... it weighs like 7000lbs

Nope! I've ran 2 sets of aftermarket 18's, and 1 set of 20's. I'll never run a 20 again. The cost of rubber for 20's should be enough of an incentive to stay away from them. I'm currently running a 35" tire on 18" wheels. The complete wheel/tire package cost very close to what it would have cost me to get 35" tires for my old 20" wheels

Is Big Brake Kit upgrade in your future? They are very expensive upgrade and requires 20 inch wheels. If not, there is no functional reason to go with 20 inch wheels. 20 inch wheels have larger moment of inertia, which make it harder to accelerate, harder to stop, and give you harsher ride (less rubber). You will also be paying a lot more for a set of tires for 20 inch wheels.

But then again, many members find 20 inch wheels to be more proportionate to the Tundra size. I personally find 18 inch wheels more appealing, but that's just me. Look at some pictures and see which size wheels you like better.

well i've kinda been thinking 18 would be the way to go...

1. my stock tires still have 75% tread left... they are the BFG Rugged Trails, and I could go ahead and wear them out and then when it's time for new tires I might do a level kit and some 35's

2. I love the way the truck rides now, and am afraid i'll lose some comfort.... though with 20's it would probably handle somewhat better

Still up in the air, but I'm leaning more towards 18's

nah no big brake kit for me my Ram had 20's on it and it did ride pretty rough... was wondering if the Tundra would be the same way.

Do those rub any at all? Or did you have to do any modifications?

Stock 2wd suspension. No rubbing. I agree with your wife, 20s look better.

So with the 2 wheels choices I have...

The KMC Misfit is 0 offset.... what size tire could I run in a 18 or 20 with that?

The Ultra Baron is 30 offset... looking like a 305/50/20 or 305/55/20 possibly. I suppose 18's sizes would be the same???

With larger tires, you have less chance of rubbing with 30 mm offset.

Here's mine. Stock suspension, stock tires (with black side out) on 18 inch Moto Metal 961.
