First post for me - Alpine IVA-W505 install question

Hey guys, been viewing as guest for a while and finally joined. I just installed the new receiver and it needs hook-up to the brake and parking brake circuits to allow use of all video functions. Has anyone already figured out how to tap in so that I can watch video all the time? It sure would be nice if the two leads from the receiver just needed to be grounded! Thanks for any help.

Piece of cake bro!!! Take and ground that wire somewhere just above the foot pedals or where ever is easiest for you to get to, then cut a small on-off toggle switch into that ground wire and install the toggle switch down by your shin where it's easy to reach around the dash panel. Now when you're in drive and wanna watch the video the warning will appear on the screen, reach down and turn the toggle switch on and off then hit the "ok" on the screen. There ya have it! Let me know if this doesn't sound clear to you. There are other ways but if you install a switch and get pulled over for viewing while driving just flip the swith off and tell the cop your radio won't allow you to watch while driving, then show him the warning on the screen.

Outstanding! That's exactly what I had hoped to hear. I'll probably put the switch on the dash next to my now useless "aux input". I have the gloss stereo mounting kit on order so when I swap that out, probably next weekend by the time I get it, I'll hook that up as well. I've probably installed about 20 aftermarket receivers and numerous amps, speaker swaps and all that, and this Alpine unit is by far the nicest looking, to operate, and sounding I've ever put in. Thanks for the help!!!

Glad to help! I'm pretty big on installing my own sound systems also but when my sterio guy explained to me what I had to do to over ride the DVD disabling device, I said WTF? I like the idea of installing the switch just in case I get pulled over but let me tell you driving and watching video do not mix! I told my gilr friend if she wants to watch DVD while we are driving it better have a col sound track! Haha! Good luck man! Post some pics when your done.
