link: Toyota iPod Integration Kit Doesn't say anything about Siruis, but I know that's how the Lexus kit works and I'm under the impression that it may be the same kit.

I've seen the instructions. It's a simple job if you're the least bit familiar with stereo installs. Sparks has the satellite receiver install instructions on the site listed above. The iPod adapter install is very similar.

Yup, I have both Sirius and my iPod working from the factory. But I do have the Nav package, so maybe that is the difference. Once I play around with my iPod, I will post the results if I got the track information to show on the display.

Pro's
You control your ipod through your car's head unit. Forget about ever using the auxilary input for your ipod. No more fidgeting with your ipod and trying to change tracks while keeping your eye on the road. No more adjusting two volumes. It keeps your ipod charged. Basically forget about ever burning a CD again. Make your CD's into playlists and put em on your ipod. Once you get in your car and plug it in, forget about it. The car's display shows the song name, and what playlist it is on. Basically acts like a CD changer, except the "CDs" are playlists. I ran the wire that plugs into the ipod behind the dash and into the glove compartment. This way my ipod is safe inside and locked away so if i valet the car i dont have to worry. Also, the unit itself has an additional auxilary input on the brain. So you can use your ipod hardwired, and then if someone gets into your car they can just plug their ipod headphone jack through the auxillary input. Since tundras already have an auxilary input, now you have Two. Cons: There is a slight delay when changing tracks. Its not a major delay, just not as quick as when you are listening to a CD. Doesn't bother me. no other cons that i can think of. |

i am able to use my steering wheel controls perfectly.
the vaistech operates on a totally different mode than sirius and xm. when you press the mode button on your steering wheel, it toggles: cd, am 1, am2, fm1, fm2, fm3, sat1, sat2, sat3....so on. what the vaistech does is slip itself in right after the CD. so on one round when you keep hitting mode 8 or nine times, the vaistech pops up. hit the mode again another 8 or 9 times, vaistech goes away. it emulates an additional CD changer. if you look on their site, i think now they make a unit with XM/sirius. but i suppose if you already have XM or SIRIUS, it would be pointless to get that specific model. |

I took a look at the manual for my interface, it does say that the text will be displayed on the head unit. But mine does not for some reason
could be because I am using a iPod touch. It mentions everyother model of iPod in the manual except for the touch.Hope this helps, and good luck. |

it may because the ipod touch is not supported, but dont give up just yet. consider changing the emulation mode.
in the manual it shows 3 different stages of emulation you can select. try changing to another mode and the text may show up. also, your firmware may be outdated. if you send the unit to them, they will update the firmware for a fee and send it back to you. also you can purchase a firmware updating usb dongle, so you can update firmwares from your home. call them and ask. im pretty sure you wont be the first person to have that problem. they are usually pretty nice and helpful. good luck. |

if it is vaistech, then its exactly the same as what i have.
dealerships purchase the kits from vaistech and then sell them for almost double to customers. provided they install it for you of course, but this is something you could do yourself. |
