?'s about stock, 4 speaker stereo.....
First off, "I sure wish" I could get the JBL upgraded system. Unfortunately, it's not offered in the regular cab Tundra...... and I'm not willing to spend $3000 more on the extra cab, + $1000 more on the JBL system.
Anyway, here's the scoop. I'm 43 years old, and for many years, I had an outrageous stereo... 14 speakers surrounded the cab, from tweeters, to 12" subs, and 4 amps, which totalled 900wts at .05% dist...... and all of this was in a regular cab Chevy S10 {had the back of the cab, and front of bed cut out, so the sub box in the bed could be sealed up against the cab}. So the point is, after 10 years with a system like that, "nothing" sounds loud anymore, and I don't really expect it too. On the other hand, the little stock CD system in my Hyundai Accent sounds surprisingly nice. Loud ? No. But crisp, and clean. It also has a couple of high mounted tweeters, which helps a lot, as treble is so directional. The question is, for what it is (in it's own class) how well does the stock Tundra system perform ? Does it have high mounted tweeters in the doors ? Guess I should go listen to one.... But just curious as to what to expect.... Thanks, Fish |

since you have a partciular taste, id just go to the dealership and listen to one.
My friend has the standard stereo in his d-cab and i think it sounds awful, but thats only comparing to what i have and mine (check signature) is a tad bit nicer. also, the stereo in the smaller r-cab may sound better than the d-cab.

about the stock stereo
in my opinion the stock stereo sucks (I have the regular basic one). I am currently updating mine. Get the truck you want and go aftermarket, there are so many nice options out there.
just my opinion

Thanks guys...
So I know not to expect much.
Like I was saying, my stock system in my little 07' Hyundai Accent (cheapest car on the american market) actually sounds pretty good.... and I'm sure the manufacturers couldn't have spent much on it. I wonder why Toyota doesn't spend .5% more on a nicer stereo sytem, and / or the R/D of such ? "OR" give standard cabs the higher end stereo option ? Plenty of space behind the seat for a decent 10" sub, and modest amp.... But anyway, yes, I guess aftermarket will be the only way to go. Hmmm, Fish |
