Upgraded JBL System Worth the $$$?

New to the site...I am looking to buy a 2008 CrewMax SR5 4x2 and was wondering if the $1,000 JBL system with Bluetooth and steering wheel controls is worth the money. I have run a search and can't seem to find anything, but was wondering whether I should spend the money buying it from the factory. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your help.

If you're an audiophile, you can probably put together a better system for the price. If you just want the functionality of the steering wheel controls and a decent sounding system, go with the JBL. I kindda regret not getting the JBL only because of the steering wheel controls. I listen to talk radio most the time so I really have no need for a more robust stereo system.

Excellent. Thanks. Any idea how well the auxiliary jack works with the JBL system? I have been hearing complaints, but the dealership told me it works significantly better with the JBL system. Any truth to this?

Good question. I would assume it has to be louder because of the amp that comes with the JBL system but you might wanna ask here

My only complaint about the JBL system is the sub. I am used to better bass from a 10" sub. But it is good enough for me at this time. Down the road I may replace the amp and sub to increase the bass.
I LOVE the controls on the steering wheel. They are so convenient and I cannot imagine not having them now. Plus, you can't go wrong with the blue tooth. Usually blue tooth systems cost $200- $300 I think. At least the ones I have looked at in the past. Plus if you live in California it will be the law to have a handsfree system by July.
So I think it is a good deal to get the factory installed JBL system.

I'm really glad I got the JBL system. Steering controls are awesome. Bluetooth is nice too. I have no problems with plugging my Ipod into the aux input. I think for the price, you can't beat it.

i believe its an 8inch sub

i think the JBL is worth it for a few reasons, the steering wheels controls, the fact that you get 11 speakers, versus the standard where you only get 5 (or 7?), and the bluetooth!

Also, you can generally get the dealership to do rebates low enough to make it so you're really not even paying anything extra for it.

i say yes, go for it.

the bass is a tad weak if you like to bump your stereo, but you can always add more subs.

I'm curious as to how and where they fit 11 speakers in the Tundra. Does anyone know?

i have the set up. The steering buttons are nice but if ur going for flat out bass then you should stick something else under the back seat. but if you wont an overall nice set up then its for you.

center speaker
1 set (set being 2) of small speakers on the dash
1 set of tweeters in the front
1 set of 6x9's in the front
1 set of tweeters in the door panels in the rear
1 set of (i believe) 6.5's in the rear doors

plus i guess the sub

which makes 12!

Is it an 8" That could be why it is not as good as the 10" I had in my other truck....

Do you know if you can add another sub to factory JBL amp. I briefly looked at the amp the other day and I didn't even see RCA jacks. It doesn't look like any amp I have seen before.

As stated earlier...with dealer rebates and such I would go for it. Granted, it isn't the best stereo for the money, but the functionality of the Bluetooth and not having to build a box for the sub make it worth while.
