Satellite radio antenna mounting suggestion

I am looking to mount the antenna but would like some input from you guys. I am curious as to how you were able to get the cable inside the cabin with little or no modification. My last car was easy, but this poses a different challenge.

Pics would be helpful please.

thanks

I didn't mount mine any special way. Just ran the wires next to the seat and under the floor covers to the back driver side door. Doesn't look the best, but it is out of the way and I get perfect signal.

Depending on where you live and if they have alot of repeaters in your area, putting the antenna on the dash, may or may not work. I know it doesn't work very well in N California.

XM or Sirius?

I mounted mine just behind the passenger side front window on the roof, Just ran the wire in the molding next to the front wind shield along the pillar. the wire hides nice in it. Then i just ran it in the door jam. behind the dash. To the head unit. If you don't know there is a little rubber boot. Just under the steering column . Follow the hood latch. At the bottom of the rubber boot is a empty hole. If you just cut the tip on the engine side that is a great place to get small wires to the inside of your truck from the front of your truck.

For those that have XM, I recommend Channel 202. Opie and Anthony in the morning and Ron and Fez in the mid morning/afternoon.

How is going to work with both companies already having proprietary units?

I believe, not 100%, but since i have xm i will get stern now i think they will merge the better stations but you will still get an xm bill & use your xm gear. (if you have xm)Maybe as the merger takes place they will only sell one basic unit but you can still use all your old units. I guess kinda like HD tv, i think 2009 cable has to send a digital signal out so if you have an older TV (analog) you may have to get a converter. Just like best buy stopped selling crt tv's(Picture tubes). They are forcing you to buy the newer stuff.

From what I have heard, once the official merger takes place they will combine the stations that are similar. For example, both companies have a several "hits" stations, several "rock" stations, several country stations, etc... Then they will get omit some stations, add some, merge some, etc... They will more than likely keep the big names from both companies since those names bring in subscriptions. Only time will tell. I just hope they don't screw it up. I love my XM radio

I forgot to add.. If you already have XM or Sirius equipment, you will still be able to use you equipment. They will just phase out the old equipment for the new. If you have been paying attention, neither company has put out much new equipment in over a year. 2-3 years ago they were putting out new radios very frequently.

Thanks for the info, I haven't heard Howard Stern since he went off the public airways... He's still on right?

Yes he is still on Sirius. He has his own station with a few other talk shows. I personally don't listen to him. I have XM and I listen to Opie and Anthony. They have similar shows, edgy with a large male audience, but are also different in their own way.

I put my XM antenna where the center speaker would go if I had one (under the grille). No problem with reception and it is hidden!

If you don't have JBL, there will be plenty of room under the center grille. My antenna is just sitting there with double-sided tape. Just don't have any metal above the antenna.

King, just below the widdshield whipers on the outside there is a big rain gutter, just stick it right in there. Run the wire through the rubber plug in the fire wall on the drivers side above your left foot.
