8" bazooka tube - TundraTalk.net

I know it seems old and boring but wouldn't a tube give you a better sound than a box since the subs face the sides where as many custom boxes I have seen face directly into the bottom of the seat or the floor. I see the jl stealth sub box points to the back of the cab Im sure it sounds good but the price is killer. Trying to decided whether to buy a tube or make a box.

I love old skool bazooka bass tubes ...

Still have a set of 10's but too big to fit nicely in my crewmax.

if the 8's would fit behind the seat that would be Kool.

I checked the 8" and it fits under the seat in a dc not sure if it will fit in back of the seat in the crewmax

Dude you are opening up a big can of worms if i were you i would go talk to a car audio specialist to get the right sound for you. Bigger isn't always better (Sound Quality) Yup i had the booming system when i was younger yeah it was loud but it didn't sound like a concert. After talking to the guy in my home town air space in a car is very important. So one 8" may sound better than one 10". Also if you have a ported box most of your sound comes from the vent. The best sounding box i built the speaker was pointing down. That was the right sound for me. Also the guy told me this when you go to a concert you stand in front of the stage. You don't stand with your back to the stage so build your system with most of you highs & mids coming from the front of your truck. Who gives a crap what the people in the back think your driving your truck all the time make it sound good for you. Yeah fill in the back with sound but don't over power the back,again your not at a show with your back to the stage.

Sorry Hawaii didn't mean to imply i was talking to you directly. Just kinda been in a lot of cars with loud systems with a lot of noise coming from speakers. Also was kinda talking about the speaker position it's self. if you want to go with a tube that is a good way to go eddies. can't go wrong with a tube. Boxes are a science so dah' speak. I have a DC & built a 8" box under the seat. I wanted to keep some of the storage with some boom. I put up picts in the photo gallery. It's not perfect i will be building a new one just because i learned a lot from the first one.

my friend put an 8" bazooka tube in the back of his cremwmax but your seats have to be moved forward. well he doesn't care because he doesn't have any friends at all. :P

But seriously i like the way my JBL system sounds that comes with all the limited editions.

I kindda regret not getting the upgraded JBL system in my SR5. Even though all I listen to is talk radio.

well I installed the 8" dvc bazooka tube today hooked it up to a small rockford amp (250x2) I had it in another truck sounds ok almost more like a mid bass. I think the amp is to much for the speaker its giving out a wierd smell but it is not distorting or making that cracking sound. What do you guys think this is????????

Put a preloaded 8" tube in my 07 RC...Sounds great, quality sound but still strong enough to "bump" if i feel like it.

can you post pics of how you positioned the tube? Or maybe just describe it? I tried to get an 8" powered tube to fit in my DC but couldnt find a place for it...

is the non-powered tube smaller than the powered tube?

I will try and post pics later but the tube is under the rear drivers side seat and speaker part facing the door. As for as the amplified tube i could only assume its bigger, I did have to push down on the seat for it to latch into place. I would only recommend putting a tube if you just want a little bit more bass than factory or dont have a factory sub. I see a custom box in my near future.

yea pics would be cool and if you could post the dimensions of the non-powered tube you have that would be cool too. Then I could compare it to dimensions of the powered tube and see if they are the same or if yours is smaller. The dimensions of the powered tube are 18.325" X 6.75" X 8". thanks!

I hear you man. When I was a young'en, I used to look for as much wattage I could get. Til a car audio installer suggested I try Boston Accoustics front and rear connected to high power head unit and a small amp and sub. It is amazing what clarity and range you get with less than 400 watts. That being said, can anyone who got the JBL 10 or 12 speaker upgrade with subwoofer tell me how they like that setup? I have convinced the wife about getting one but she says at that price aftermarket no upgrades. I am used to pulling out the OEM stereo the same week I purchased it, but that was before Toyota hooked up with JBL. If sound is real good, I am willing to get SR5 and upgrade standard 6 speaker system.
