subs in the tundra

I always put a nice system in my vehicles but i want to make sure i do this one right. I have everything under control but the subs. I want the box underneath the backseats and the car audio place I use will build me the box but my questions are:

10 or 8 inch subs?

2, 3, or 4 subs?

if you can answer the above two questions tell me why you answered them the way you did.

I saw that a user on this site has 4 10's under his seat. They look good, but according to one audio place I talked to, they said that 2 10's would sound better and louder. Whats the real answer here??????? Assume I am powering them properly.

I think this will be very subjective on the answers you get. I think it all depends on what kind of sound you are looking for.

1. What kind of systems have you had in the past? Have they all been heavy bass or not? If they have been I would say the more subs the better.

2. Use a car audio shop that you have a relationship with and they know what you like. If they suggest something you should trust them.

I personally am putting one JL Audio 10" sub under the back seat. I am not looking for huge bass, I just want a little more than the factory sent me

sweet cant wait to see the pics. I would be going with either the rockford shallow p3s or the pioneer premier shallow subs. I listen to mostly rock but a little rap here and there, so id like to have heavy bass when i want it. my main question here is sub size and quantity.

That sounds pretty cool, I just fit (3) 12" pioneer shallows under my DC rear seats in a custom box. A little tricky getting the needed volume inside the box. Powered em with a 1200 watt kicker monoblock amp. The Kicker fit behind the rear seat just perfect! I modified the seat so when you lift the seat the back folds forward to access the amp for adjustments.

Well i think you should listen to you Audio guy. If you had systems before you should already know what kind of bass you like. Build a system around that, if you can only fit say two 8"s than thats what you do. You are the one driving your truck build it for you, just cuz you see someone put 4 10"s in doesnt make it right. The guy is probably right two tens may sound better than say the 4 10"s". I had 2 8" is in my old truck & Sh*t i could even through One from Metallica. I stared to get sick.

Are the 2 300 watt amps for the subs? If so why don't you just get one monoblock amp for both subs?

How much would it cost do you think to replace all the factory speakers in the factory locations with say mid-high end components. Still just powered by the stock cables, unamped, if possible. For the 6 disc in dash system. Theres 7 seakers I think? 3 on the dash, one in each corner and a larger central, then one in each door on the bottom. Even a ballpark price would be appreciated. And including installation and everything out the door.

I dont know crap about audio. I know usually good brands and a little basics and all. But when you get into ohms and all the details I get lost.

And im not trying to high jack the thread, Just figured you guys really know what your talking about and have experience in the business.

It's hard to say but if all you want to do is change out the O.G speakers without changing the wires the speakers might run you about 2 or 3 bills depending on what you want and the install should only be around a hundred bux or so depending on who you go to. Good luck!
