No G, I will be back this next weekend. One more week!! I got it done in North Texas. I did call my sales person at Quality and he was familiar about the alarm...thats not to say the service dept would be though.
And yes Syber, thats what the master technician at this dealer told me. If you are getting your viper soon, you can still go in there and customize all your other settings, like your daytime running lights, how long your lights stay on after locking, BOTH seatbelt alarms(2008),pass for 07', how loud the key in the ignition reminder is(three settings),something with the auto climate control(which I don't have)....there are soo many options, I was surprised!! You might have to schmooze the tech a little, but I don't see why they wouldn't go through it with anybody.

Took my truck in for my first free oil change today.

Thought it would be a good idea to get the alarm turned on as well.

I approached them about it and they had no idea what I was talking about. The Truck Champion (the guy that is supposed to know everything about the trucks) had no idea what I was talking about (I am a truck champion). "VIP? What? Do our vehicles have that?"

They had to pull a tech over and ask him. He had never heard of it either. So I showed them the printed out instructions for the TechStream and he went ahead and hooked it up and enabled it. He turned off those damn seatbelt chimes as well. Took about 3 minutes total to do it all.

The alarm flashes the lights, honks the horn, relocks the doors, then after a time, a minute or two, I forget exactly, resets and shuts off, if the B&E attempt stops.

The alarm is available on all V-8 '07 and up Tundras with the engine immobilizer system , which prevents engine start, until your ignition is electronically unlocked with the chip that is embedded in your key.

My Dealer Removed my Alarm Because I didn't pay for it?

My dealer offered me the extra alarm for $600, and I declined. I read these posts about the alarm being there and only need be activated and called my dealer about it. I was told that when I declined, they remove the little alarm light thingy inside the cab, and keep it. Should they have done this?

When you remove the key, does a red light in the center of your dash face blink? If so, it's there. Also, that's your engine immobilizer 'activated light', it should not be removed. I suggest you try another dealer. I strongly suggest it.

Yes, there is a blinking light in a car with a key in it, right next to the clock and temp. I wonder what if anything the salesperson was talking about when she said they remove it, if I don't purchase it? I don't plan on going back to this dealer, just a feeling that I can't trust them. New to this site and it's great! Not sure what I would gain by having it activated then? Maybe it is activated?

Thanks a lot for your help Ballistic!

If your alarm were activated that light, actually it's a red silhouette of a tiny car with a black cutout of a key in it, will stay lit without blinking for a minute or so after you lock the truck. When it starts blinking again, the alarm is armed. If you leave your window down you can test it by reaching in and opening the door from the inside. If it's activated, you will know it. If not, it's a quick simple matter for a dealer to activate it. Mine did it for free.

Alarm Bs

I have an o7 Crew Max with the keyless entry system and asked my dealer to activate the alarm and was told it did not have one?

What's with the conflicting info?

The 2007/2008 Tundra that you got (with remote lock feature) already has an alarm installed but it is not activated. If you purchase the "Glass breakage sensor", the dealer will have to activate the alarm (for a fee). You do not even need to purchase the GBS, you can just have them activate your alarm. You can always install the GBS at a later date (~$110).

All 2007/2008 Tundras have an alarm, Toyota dealers need some $$$ from you to make it work.

Well Mr. BowTie,
I've come to realize there's more knowledge on this site than possibly all the dealers put together. I recieved a call from a woman who was suppose to familiarize me with the truck. I asked her about the acitvation, and by the tone in her voice, I don't think she knew what I was talking about when I reffered to activation. She told me if I didn't purchase the alarm, "we take it out". It appears as though I still have it, just not activated. This from the person who is suppose to familiarize me with the vehicle!

Alarm BS

Sweet!! Good to know who were dealing with. I printed all the instructions I could find from this post. I have to take Scarlet back to get 2 faulty vents and a dash clock replaced. I'll try to sell it to the service dept. this week.
