Thanks gnyhuf for the phone number to your dealer, I have a feeling that my dealer will be contacting them.

Understand. They are giving you Toyoguard. That's what SouthEastern Toyota gives the limited versions.

I have that toyo guard. I am not so sure what that covers. I haven't been able to read up on it yet unfortunately! I still haven't been to the local TX dealer to get my alarm activated yet either. This school is kicking my butt!!

Wish me luck, going into battle tomorrow on my lunch. I've printed out pages 10-17 of the PDF from sparks that illustrates how to turn it on. Just to test the waters, I called the service dept. and the guy already started arguing saying that if I didn't purchase an alarm, it doesn't have one. Could it be that they know it's there, they just wanna charge people more to "install" the system???

Update: I've called the 3 toyota dealers in the valley and they all say "no alarm". One of them said they had never heard about it but if I wanted to bring it down and have them look that it would cost me $90.00 just to hook up the techstream to my truck. He said that's what they carge just to connect that computer to your vehicle no matter what. Should I even do this since I'm gonna be getting the VIPER 5701 within the next month anyway???

OK well I finally got out to the dealer for the alarm. I learned more information about not only the diffs in the 2007, and the 2008's, but in the different Toyota regions as well. Here we go... First off I was told by the Master Tech that Toyota is supposed to set your "personnel settings" one time for you for free. After that you are supposed to pay if you want to change anything next time. I thought that was interesting!! He said that Toyota wont volunteer that info freely as some of us have experienced with other dealers. Secondly, when he hooked up his little computer to my truck, He knew right where to go and he knew exactly what I was talking about with the alarm. He also said that depending on which region your dealer falls under depends on if it comes already activated or not. He has herd a lot of bad things about the southeast region when it comes to that stuff. In his region, all of the trucks come set and all they have to do is basically look them over and put them out on the lot! He also said that the different regions use aftermarket accessories companies. He pointed out my pass lumbar button was not a "Toyota" part, it was dealer installed because if it were the switches would match! Anyway, he let me go through every setting in the truck and customize it the way I wanted it. We have a lot more options than I thought!! I was able to turn off "BOTH" seatbelt buzzers/dingers. On the 07's you can only turn off the passengers. We also have the window option through the key.....but mine doesn't work. We turned it on but no go. Maybe the limiteds have it.
All in all it was easy as pie, and maybe this might help the next Dealer victim from falling into the money pocket!

How did your adventure go Syber?

I opted not to go yet. That's awesome that they let you go through every option. You're saying that Toyota is supposed to allow us to do that once? If they even want to charge me $20.00 I wont do it, simply because i"m planning on getting the Viper 5701 w/remote start anyway.

Anyone know where can I find the instructions to show the dealer. The owners manual does not give enough info unless I missed something.

Thanks
