I forgot to point out that this part of the reply was in bold.
There is no alarm system currently installed on your vehicle from the factory. I am going to call her out on her claim |

Took my 08 crewmax to the dealer on saturday with the instructions in hand and the service guy refused to try it and told me that I didnt have a factory alarm installed so there was nothing to activate. Going to try another dealership that I heard knows about this and has activated alarms for others.

I just bought my Tundra on August 20th.
Last week I printed out the alarm instructions and took them to the dealer. I showed my sales guy what I wanted done and he acted like I was asking him to fly to the moon, until I showed him the (blank) survey letter you get when you buy a new truck. My alarm was operational within one hour and it didn't cost a dime. ![]() |

Norwalk Toyota is right by me. Should I say I'm having the same problem or just go in and ask to activate the alarm? |

Just go in there with the instructions and have the tech follow the instructions. My tech friend did it in less than 2 minutes. I called another dealership and they tols me to come on in and they'll take care of it. These dealers are in SD. Less us know how it goes. ![]() |

I say to him, "I certainly not telling you guys how to do your job or saying I know more than you but if we can try this I would appreciate it" This is how I get things for free Play to their side...Anyway he says you have to go to the other service bay I don't have a techstream here. I say I just came from there and they sent me here. He says et in your truck let's go. So he takes me inside the main service bay and hollars at a master tech. We BS with each other and he hooks up the techstream. He says, you're right it is off....then he asks me if I wanted anything else customized while he's in the system. This was cool and the reason these guys earn my business. I decided to leave everything else default. I was ok with the settings. We test the alarm and they send me off my way. Oh, and the master tech teaches the advisor how to do it in case more vehicles, Tundra's whatever, come back. So tundra talk did their part today and taught a local [good] toyota dealer something. THANKS GUYS.

Just got back from the dealer for first service. First oil change was free. Hit the service manager up to activate factory alarm. (He has one himself) He says no problem, let me go grab a computer and i will fix you up. He did it while i was standing there asking him questions and what delay i would like or instant arming and then he asked while i'm in here do you want me to deactive the seatbelt buzzers and i said absolutely. I thanked him very much and he agreed if they put it on there stock it should work. It was Toyota of Fort Worth and i would recommend anyone to them as they are a very standup dealership.

I just bought a 2008 5.7L Limited 4x4 and mine came activated. Dealer must have activated it during make ready or when it first came on the lot. I have already set the alarm off to verify it works. Oh yeah, very loud..

Was reading this post today and checked my truck. Looks like my dealer activated it when they set up the truck. Still nobody at the dealership told me about it. Just happy I don't have to go back and fight with them to activate it.

Talk to the customer service person where you bought the truck. Thats what I ended up having to do. The service guys wouldnt do anything, so I went over thier heads.
