I took the truck into the dealer today to have the passenger seat belt buzzer removed and while I was there the tech guy asked me If I wanted anything else done, so I said yeah activate my alarm would ya. He looked at me like I had 10 heads! So I explained to him that it could be done, went through the same thing with the next guy that came out, priceless! After I set the alarm off they were like WTF??? We didn't know that was there, I guess they learn something new everyday, lol.
Anyway I now have no seat belt buzzer for the front seats and I have my alarm activated, oh yeah my leveling kit showed up today too, gonna try and get that installed tomorrow, maybe tires??

Seems to have went smoother than you thought? It seems to matter on who you hook up with, and what approach? Either way, glad to hear all went well. I have had so much help here with all these guys. I find myself living on this forum now. Take Care, later gator |

I went in for my first oil change and mentioned that I would like my alarm turned on. I got the cocked head look, but was told that they would try and look at the techstream. Well, after the oil was changed I saw the taillights flashing and the horn honking. The tech was smiling and I drove home. No charge and they all learned something. Very nice. Thank you all for the help.

I have no GBS and a 4.7L, and they activated mine. Sounds like your dealer is trying to initiate the GBS input, in addition to the alarm.

I went in for my first service this morning. I told him I would rotate the tires, wanted him to change the oil, and oh yeah while you are at it, activate my factory alarm. He tried to tell me there was no such thing. I told him there was and please have the tech do it. I told him, if they need the instructions on how to do it, they are laying in the front seat. I think he was still skeptical, but he came back and said it was all taken care of. I should have tested it right there in the bay, but I spared them.
I told him, see you guys learned something today. I dont think he really cared and probably still doesnt realize that they all have the alarm. Oh well. Oh yeah, no charge for the alarm activation. Next time, I'm gonna push to have the seat belt chime taken off and get the doors to all unlock with one press of the keyfob button. |
