Phase plug hits speaker grill on door panel, rear.

So the stock speakers were really annoying me, horrible bass reproduction, crackling highs. Me being a audiophile I had to do something.

Found a tutorial on how to remove the door panels and use the factory speakers to mount some new 6.5" after market speakers. Everything went as expected no hiccups.

I installed : RE audio RE 6.5" components ( though I only installed the mid driver)

Unfortunately these mid's have a phase plug mounted onto the cone. When you apply more than -4 bass (on factory radio) the plug hits the speaker grill on the door panel and make a horrible tapping sound, almost as iff the bass was distorting. I really wish it didn't hit, because with the door panel off they produce very nice. Oh well...

So their is something to note, a Phase plug on a moving cone WILL hit the speaker grill/guard on the door panel, which will make noise.
