Should I get the factory JBL??
After going through several posts I wound up having more questions than answers. I was going to go with the JBL but thinking maybe I could upgrade after I buy the truck.
Couple questions....Is the wiring in place for the 12 speakers in a crewmax or I think it's ten speakers in the DC? How about the steering wheel controls/bluetooth, can that be installed aftermarket ( one thread sounded like it could happen aftermarket )? Thanks in advance! |

I would go with the upgrade radio. Im not to happy with the standard one that I have. Seems like the high and low end are much stronger than the midrange. Ive tried messing with the controls but nothing seems to work to make the sound better.

I went with the standard radio and then just upgraded aftermarket.
Pioneer Z2 Navigation + Polk Momo Component up front and Polk Momo Components in the rear. Still haven't decided on a subwoofer yet, but I will say that even without the sub, it sounds amazing. |

I went with the upgrded JBL in the DC and I love it. Of course you don't have the BOOM BOOM that breaks windows as you drive down the street, but for a factory systems, it is much better than the upgraded system I had in my Lariat.
Another plus to the JBL system is that you can install either Sat Radio option and still use your factory controls as well as display all text from the stations. You still have access to steering wheel controls. My main factor in choosing this over the upgrade aftermarkaet was price. By the time I go out and purchase head unit, 10 pseakers, amp, sat radio, and steering wheel controls I would be over what Toyota is charging me for the JBL system. It also looks better than an adapter plate that I would have to use for after market systems. |

Hi All, I think that I may have posted this in the wrong thread earlier:
First post here and am a newbie to Toyota/Tundra ownership. I am not sure what this talk is of JBL and non-JBL audio systems. I understand that in order to install certain types of stereo systems that you need the JBL system, is that correct? I am also not sure if my new Tundra has the system, as I can't see any JBL decals in my interior. I own an 07 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 with the TRD Offroad package and have a 6-disc CD changer with the speaker in the centre above the deck. Can anyone tell me if this is/isn't the JBL setup? Please don't bash, I actually did try to figure it out for myself and am now thoroughly confused. Thanks in advance. Qilak |
