If I had that amount of weight on the proper trailer with brakes I would tow that in a heartbeat. My wifes sequoia had the 4.7 and it would tow a 4000lb boat like it was nothing.
Just drive like you have no trailer brakes. GL FM5 |

What is different between the 4.7 and 5.7 brake wise? I was under the belief that the brakes were the same???
I haven't yet purchased a truck. I was just wondering if a 4.7 might fit my needs. I have been looking at 5.7 only but it is hard to find what options I want w/ 5.7 for some reason. |

doorkicker there is no difference in the3 braking capability of either motors. Our 4.7 in the sequoia stopped the boat just fine. Just never assume that your brakes will work properly and you will be fine. That one time that they don't work you will be prepared.
I had a dog chew the brake line into on a 12000 lb trailer which by the way had about 9000 lbs worth of concrete forms on it. Lets just say I barely got my rig under control by the bottom of the driveway. GL FM5 |

ok.. this might sound crazy.. What about towing 6k with a V6. is there anything that can be done to make this tow, without damaging the truck
my truck is an 08 Tundra w/ V6. i Recently inherited a tow hauler and it weighs 4,400 + stuff = 6k. |

v6 towing
not sure.. but the towing capacity is only 5,000. i know it's pass it's max by 1k.
i just thought maybe changing gears in the back would help. i was thinking like 4:80... i just wonder if that would be too much. maybe airbags for the weight. |
