Trailer Lights !! -sos-please help
Ok here is my problem- I have a 2002 4x4 SR5 Tundra and I used it last year to tow my Lund worked just great. This spring when I went to get the boat the trailer lights didn't work, the first thing I did was clean every thing up and check all the fuses but all is good. I then hooked the boat to the Sequoia and everything worked great, so I know it’s the Tundra. I went back and check all the fuses and even replaced the trailer fuse, and unhooked the trailer connector from the other main plug and nothing- So I traced the wires to driver side light and that small connector works so I am guessing that the problem is where the wires meet and spilt. Maybe the wires were pulled some how I don’t know. To make it work should I just hard wire it, really don't want to do that but what a pain to always use the wife car and take the kids car seats out every time I want to go fishing. Thanks for the help!!!!

I would try a test light in the wireing directly behind the plug on your tundra I would bet you need a new plug????????????????

I'm betting the same thing, change out that plug and when you do make sure you solder all the connections!

Check the plug ground. If the ground for the plug has come loose, then none of the trailer lights will work. Put in a new ground under the bumper if you want.

If none of your lights work on the trailer, (brake, running) you probably have a ground problem on the truck side. If you have a ground problem on trailer side, you should get a ground through the ball, unless it is really rusty.

Hey! I can cure your need for wires of any kind. Ditch them and go wireless! I work with Towmate and can offer you the absolute best wireless LED rechargeable lights at a kicking price. What you need we have! All it takes is a transmitter that's fit for your vehicle and you not placing them more than 300 feet away. Seriously. Nothing more. Except for a few bucks that are well spent and keeps you away from future bothers like this!
Give me a call if you still need something! Rick YoBe Enterprises 620-228-3482 |

I had that problem on my 88 F250 pickup and I spent 3 days replacing plugs on both the trailer, and my truck, rewired the whole trailer, just to find out by taking it to my local UHAUL shop that a fuseable link had fried and left me with no juice to my trailer plug on my truck. What a headache. Problem was corrected with a $6 fuseable link and a couple of butt connectors. Not to mention the $120 I spent on all the plugs and wire for the trailer which I didn't need, although the trailer wiring and plugs were all new after that.
