No cutting needed..behind the drivers kick panel there is a white terminal way up on top that has a cover cap on it. The Tekonsha Toyota connector wire harness plugs right in without cutting. The white ground wire connects to the grounding lug right there too! Its so easy I couldnt believe that could be it... I did not use the wire connector that came with my truck form Toyota....

Prodigy Mounting
I like the mount in front of the shifter. How does the "Pocket" come out of that cubby? I had mounted mine on the left near the hood release. I like it there but I tend to hit it w/my knee getting in or out some times. Is the controller mounted in there or is it wedged in? Anyway it looks good and is out of the way. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I just pushed on the inside of the pocket and it popped back inside. Then I stuck my finger insode and released the clips that hold the rest of the panel in that holds the traction control switch. The prodigy controller slides into the opening and then install the two bolts that come with the controller. They hold the controller in the opening just fine!! Then snap the whole panel back in after routing the wires down through the front of the console. I zip tied the wires across the underside of the dash and thats it!!

I just bought a 08 Limited yesterday and was want some opinions on mounting it in the center console cubby between the cig and 12v sockets, do you guys think that it will be to far away? I was going to mount the P3 I picked up today where 07tundra@10k installed his but I think the p3 might end up sticking out a littler further than the Prodigy and might get a little abused when shifting in and out of park.

I looked at afew different locations but wasnt comfortable with having to reach to get to the manual lever. The prodigy works incredbly good even on different weight trailers...from my big enclosed car hauler to an equipment trailer with a 6500 # bobcat on board.
Maybe think of going back to the prodigy and returning the p3?? IM not sure what the differnce is between the two.... |

I moved a Prodigy from Hal (1978 Chevy 454) to our 2008 Tundra CM this morning using 07tundra@10k's instructions, and it was as easy as he said. In all, it would have taken about 20-30 minutes, if I skipped the search for the holy tie wraps and original mounting hardware from when we purchased the Prodigy a couple of years ago. Plus, it's dang hot in Phoenix, even at 7:00 AM!
Thanks for all of the great installation tips! |
