Dealer will say anything....

Well I have been trying to locate my perfect truck and it has not been easy.
Yesterday, I think I have found it and then notice that there is NO TOW PKG listed.

I want the Tundra Grade CM 4x4 5.7. I would like to have Tow PKG, Fog lamps, and Tow Mirrors as options (But I have learned that I can add the last two after purchase if I really want to) Tow PKG is a must from the factory!

I bring this up to the salesman, and after he goes back to the manager, he returns to explain that "Yes it had A tow PKG, just not the BIG tow PKG"

He proceeds to show me where it will tow 8K lbs, not the 10K I had seen in the brochure.

Is there any truth to this?

Keep looking bro! Buyer beware, it should have a capacity of 10k lbs! Make sure it has the tow mirrors too!

Go to another dealer. Don't put up with a crappy salesman that doesn't know the product. That just shows how lazy he is. I went to a few dealers when I was looking as well...don't let them tell you there isn't the truck you want out there locally or whatever. Had a salesman tell me that I'd have to order because there wasn't one within the 3 state area....went down the road and found the EXACT truck I wanted ON ANOTHER DEALER'S LOT!

Don't put up with it!

Have you used the search on Toyota's website to find your truck?

OK just searched Toyota's website to locate my truck, and it says that my dealer has this truck.
Is this just a marketing ploy to get me there so they can have it delivered? Or is it being delivered and my dealer dosen't know it? Or God forbid, it is sitting there and they don't even know it.......

There's another thread on this site that explains the difference between the factory installed hitch and the one the dealers install. Evidently, if the Tundra comes from the factory without a hitch installed, the dealer can't install the factory hitch because of clearance problems with some of the parts that differ, like the bumper or something. So, they install an aftermarket class III hitch that has a lower tongue and tow rating. That other post was on adding a hitch to a truck with the "sport package", which does not come from the factory with a hitch.

OK but what if the hitch is installed at the factory, but the rest of the tow pkg is not? I found one that is on the Toyota website that has a hitch, but dosen't have a tow pkg.

I have the same truck you are looking for except no tow mirrors or fog lamps. If the sticker doesn't say tow package, keep looking. If you are still having trouble locating it and don't mind going out of state, give Jim Barkley Toyota a call. They are in North Carolina. Great dealer IMO, if there is such a thing.

Yep. Mine is a base model with a class 4 hitch with 4pin connector and 4.10 gears.

Big package has the factory 7pin and 4.30 gears...

It's true if you look at a Tundra grade you get the 8,000lbs towing package unless the add the 10,000 pound towing package. It can only be put on at the factory you sure you can't get an SR5 see this is what you guys miss when you get tundra grade. Not trying to be rude or anything.

I just don't want the center console. I have to have the 40/20/40 split bench. So it is Tundra Grade for me.....I'll just make sure I have the tow pkg on the one I buy.
