Tow Haul mode question

Hi,
I'm new to the site and I have a new Tundra....

I have a question about the tow haul mode, because I think I might have a problem. I pull a small trailer, and when I activate the tow haul mode, the trans sometimes WILL NOT shift past third gear, going all the way to red line. But, if I just quickly move the shift lever to neutral and then back to drive for just a second, the trans will then shift through all the gears.
Normal??? (I doubt it but thought I'd ask)

When it is in tow haul mode it will shift at much higher then normal rpms that Depending on how heavy your trailer is , I would advise you to try towing it without using the tow haul mode and see how it does .
Some people have said they do fine without it , if your pulling on flat roads you should be fine with this feature off .

Here is a link to a thread about towing a 9500 lb trailer and his experience .

Towing Report: '07 Tundra + 35' 9000 lb trailer

Welcome to the forum , hope this helps you ?

Sumptin ain't right, if your in drive. It should still smoothly shift and not go to the redline. If your in the sport shifting mode then you'll have to tap it to shift up. I can't see anyone going to redline when towing something, sounds....dangerous. Get it checked out ASAP. Read the manual more about your transmission....I'd bet your leaving it in the sport mode ("S" mode).

I read something a while back about this symptom in relation to playing with the VSC modes. The part about not getting past 3rd gear was related to having VSC turned off, I think.
